Abstract

Pulau Jawa merupakan pulau terluas kelima di Indonesia, dengan luas sekitar 128.297 km2 dan jumlah populasi terpadat berkisar 150 juta penduduk. Tingginya pertumbuhan berbagai sektor Pulau Jawa, berdampak pada terkikisnya habitat alami satwa endemik. Badak jawa, macan tutul jawa, dan elang jawa merupakan satwa endemik yang menjadi korban atas maraknya deforestasi di Pulau Jawa. Ketiga satwa endemik Pulau Jawa tersebut, menghadapi ancaman kepunahan karena populasinya yang semakin berkurang. Profauna menyimpulkan bahwa edukasi dini penting dilakukan dalam menjaga kelestarian alam melalui penanaman nilai empati kepada generasi muda. Berdasarkan observasi yang telah dilakukan, informasi mengenai terancam punahnya satwa endemik jarang sekali ditemukan pada media lokal. Hal ini menyebabkan generasi muda memiliki empati yang minim, karena kurangnya edukasi mendasar mengenai pentingnya menjaga keanekaragaman hayati. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut karya ini dirancang dengan tujuan untuk mengenalkan dan mengedukasi generasi muda, terhadap fenomena terancam punahnya satwa endemik Pulau Jawa dengan menggunakan media kekinian dan mudah untuk diakses. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan design thinking dengan instrumen berupa wawancara, observasi, serta studi produk sejenis. Survei dilakukan terhadap remaja dengan usia 13-15 tahun sebagai landasan perancangan karya. Karya yang ditampilkan berupa film animasi 2 dimensi dengan judul “Fantastic Javanimals” dengan 8 chapter bersambung yang mengemas edukasi mendasar serta menghibur. “Fantastic Javanimals” ditampilkan dengan format MP4, resolusi 2560x1080 dan frame rate 29,7 fps. Karya film mengemas cerita petualangan seru dengan drama menarik yang jarang ditemukan dalam konten animasi lokal. Sehingga karya animasi ini menjadi lebih menarik dalam mengedukasi, tetap menghibur audiens dengan media kekinian. **************** Java Island is the fifth largest island in Indonesia, with an area of approximately 128,297 km2 and a densely populated population of approximately 150 million people. The rapid growth of various sectors of Java Island has resulted in the erosion of the natural habitat of endemic animals. The Javan rhinoceros, Javan leopard, and Javan hawk-eagle are endemic animals that have become victims of rampant deforestation on Java Island. These three endemic animals of Java Island are facing the threat of extinction due to their decreasing population. Profauna concluded that early education is important in preserving nature by instilling empathy in the younger generation. Based on observations, information about the threat of endemic animals being endangered is rarely found in local media. This causes the younger generation to have minimal empathy, due to the lack of basic education about the importance of preserving biodiversity. Based on these problems, this work was designed with the aim of introducing and educating the younger generation about the phenomenon of the threat of endemic animals being extinct on Java Island using contemporary and easily accessible media. The research method used is qualitative with a design thinking approach with instruments in the form of interviews, observations, and studies of similar products. A survey was conducted on teenagers aged 13-15 years as a basis for designing the work. The work presented is a 2D animated film entitled "Fantastic Javanimals" with 8 continuous chapters that contain basic education and entertainment. "Fantastic Javanimals" is displayed in MP4 format, 2560x1080 resolution and a frame rate of 29.7 fps. The film works package an exciting adventure story with an interesting drama rarely found in local animated content. So this animated work becomes more interesting in educating, while still entertaining the audience with contemporary media.
