Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memvisualisasikan berbagai bentuk perasaan burnout yang muncul dalam hubungan antara ayah dan anak laki-laki akibat ekspektasi berlebihan yang telah terjadi sejak masa kecil, tanpa diimbangi dukungan emosional serta pengakuan atas kapasitas individual anak. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan riset artistik yang berbasis pengalaman personal namun bersifat reflektif. Proses pengkaryaan diawali dengan kegiatan magang bersama narasumber, Mayek Prayitno, di Schizophernia Studio pada bulan April 2025 hingga Desember 2025. Karya drawing ini secara efektif menyampaikan pesan mengenai tekanan dan representasi burnout yang berkaitan dengan perasaan anak laki-laki yang kerap tidak tersampaikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, berdasarkan riset dan eksplorasi yang telah dilakukan. Visualisasi burnout diwujudkan melalui pendekatan aliran surealis dengan penggambaran berbagai bentuk tubuh menggunakan bentuk doodle yang ekspresif serta tambahan tarikan garis yang sengaja dibuat tidak rapi dan dipertegas dengan drawingpen. Perupa menggunakan kombinasi alat manual, seperti pensil, spidol hitam, dan drawing pen warna natural (hitam-putih) di atas kertas, dengan perpaduan teknik arsiran dan pointilis. Dalam karya, penggambaran objek tetap mempertahankan elemen figuratif atau karakteristik alami; objek-objek tersebut tidak sepenuhnya meniru rupa asli atau kondisi sebenarnya, melainkan mengalami sentuhan perubahan tertentu. Kata Kunci: Burnout, Drawing, Metode Riset Artistik *** This study aims to visualize various forms of burnout that emerge within the relationship between fathers and their sons as a result of excessive expectations imposed since childhood, without being balanced by emotional support and recognition of the child’s individual capacities. The research employs a qualitative approach and artistic research grounded in personal experience while remaining reflective in nature. The creative process began with an internship under the supervision of Mayek Prayitno at Schizophernia Studio from April 2025 to December 2025. The resulting drawings effectively convey messages of pressure and represent burnout related to the often unexpressed feelings of a son in everyday life, based on the research and explorations that were conducted. The visualization of burnout is realized through a Surrealist approach, depicting various bodily forms using expressive doodle-like shapes accompanied by deliberately irregular line strokes, further emphasized with drawingpens. The artist utilizes a combination of manual tools, including pencils, black markers, and natural-colored (black-and white) drawing pens on paper, incorporating a mixture of hatching and pointillism techniques. In the artworks, the depiction of objects retains figurative elements or natural characteristics; however, the objects do not fully replicate their original forms or realistic conditions, as they are presented with certain modifications.
