Abstract

Penciptaan karya seni lukis ini berangkat dari isu motherless yang dimaknai sebagai ketiadaan peran ibu, baik secara fisik maupun psikologis, dalam kehidupan individu dan dampaknya terhadap kondisi emosional serta perkembangan batin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pengalaman kehilangan, kehampaan, dan kerinduan melalui bahasa visual seni lukis ekspresionis. Metode yang digunakan adalah practice-led research, di mana proses berkarya menjadi bagian utama dalam menghasilkan pengetahuan artistik, serta didukung oleh pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif untuk menguraikan konsep, proses, dan makna karya secara naratif. Proses penciptaan dilakukan melalui tahapan eksplorasi ide, pengumpulan referensi teoretis dan visual, eksperimen teknik, refleksi, hingga perwujudan karya akhir. Hasil penciptaan menunjukkan bahwa gaya ekspresionis mampu merepresentasikan emosi subjektif secara kuat melalui pengolahan figur, warna, komposisi, dan sapuan kuas yang ekspresif. Karya-karya yang dihasilkan tidak hanya menjadi sarana ungkap perasaan personal perupa, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai media refleksi dan empati bagi audiens terhadap realitas psikologis individu dengan latar belakang motherless. Karya-karya ini menegaskan bahwa seni lukis dapat menjadi medium komunikasi emosional dan pemaknaan pengalaman hidup yang kompleks. The creation of these painting artworks originates from the issue of motherless, which is interpreted as the absence of a mother’s role, either physically or psychologically, in an individual’s life, along with its impact on emotional conditions and inner development. This study aims to express experiences of loss, emptiness, and longing through the visual language of expressionist painting. The method employed is practice-led research, in which the creative process serves as the primary means of generating artistic knowledge, supported by a qualitative descriptive approach to narratively explain the concepts, processes, and meanings of the artworks. The creative process is carried out through stages of idea exploration, the collection of theoretical and visual references, technical experimentation, reflection, and the realization of final artworks. The results indicate that the expressionist style is capable of powerfully representing subjective emotions through the treatment of figures, color, composition, and expressive brushstrokes. The resulting artworks function not only as a medium for the artist’s personal emotional expression but also as a space for reflection and empathy for audiences toward the psychological realities of individuals with a motherless background. These works affirm that painting can serve as a medium for emotional communication and for interpreting complex life experiences.
