Abstract
The creation of this craft work is motivated by the conservation status of the Javan Green Peafowl (Pavo muticus muticus), which is threatened with extinction due to illegal hunting and habitat destruction, aiming to develop concepts, realize visual characteristics, and manage bead embroidery media and techniques on women's bags as a conservation campaign medium for endemic species. The method used is Practice-Based Research with a qualitative approach including preliminary studies, an internship with artist Meita Meilita, and exploration of base materials such as jute, canvas, denim, leather, and PVC using a combination of seed beads, crystals, pearls, and sequins. The results show that the bead embroidery technique using the running stitch is effective in artistically replicating the iridescent effect of peacock feathers without using animal materials, with canvas being the most ideal base to support the weight of the beads. The final work is a functional wearable art product that combines exclusive handcrafted aesthetics with environmental awareness messages for the public.
