Abstract

Pada Pemilu Presiden 2024 di Indonesia, alat peraga kampanye (APK) seperti baliho dan spanduk menjadi bagian penting dari praktik komunikasi politik di ruang publik. Melalui elemen visual yang ditampilkan, APK berfungsi sebagai media pembentukan makna dan citra politik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana makna visual dibangun melalui integrasi elemen-elemen visual dalam APK pasangan calon presiden dan wakil presiden Anies Baswedan dan Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan semiotika sosial visual dari Kress dan van Leeuwen dalam kerangka Analisis Wacana Multimodal (Multimodal Discourse Analysis). Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Analisis difokuskan pada dimensi tekstual visual melalui kajian metafungsi visual, yaitu metafungsi representasional, interpersonal, dan komposisional. Data penelitian berupa baliho dan spanduk kampanye paslon AMIN yang didokumentasikan di wilayah Jakarta dan Yogyakarta, dan dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan serta dokumentasi visual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa elemen-elemen visual dalam APK paslon AMIN membangun makna secara terintegrasi melalui ketiga metafungsi visual. Metafungsi representasional merepresentasikan identitas dan peran kandidat, metafungsi interpersonal mengatur relasi visual antara kandidat dan audiens, serta metafungsi komposisional mengorganisasi elemen visual secara keseluruhan sehingga membentuk struktur makna yang kohesif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa makna dalam APK kampanye tidak dihasilkan oleh elemen visual secara terpisah, melainkan melalui integrasi metafungsi visual yang bekerja secara simultan dalam membangun citra dan pesan kampanye di ruang publik. ***** In the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election, campaign props such as billboards and banners became an important part of political communication practices in public spaces. Through the visual elements displayed, campaign props function as media for the construction of meaning and political imagery. This study aims to analyze how visual meaning is constructed through the integration of visual elements in the campaign props of the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN). This research employs a visual social semiotics approach developed by Kress and van Leeuwen within the framework of Multimodal Discourse Analysis. The method used is qualitative with a case study design. The analysis focuses on the visual textual dimension through an examination of visual metafunctions, namely representational,interpersonal, and compositional metafunctions. The research data consist of campaign billboards and banners of the AMIN candidate pair documented in the regions of Jakarta and Yogyakarta, collected through field observation and visual documentation. The findings indicate that the visual elements in the AMIN campaign props construct meaning in an integrated manner through the three visual metafunctions. The representational metafunction represents the candidates’ identities and roles, the interpersonal metafunction regulates visual relations between the candidates and the audience, and the compositional metafunction organizes the visual elements as a whole, forming a cohesive structure of meaning. These findings demonstrate that meaning in campaign props is not produced by visual elements in isolation, but through the simultaneous integration of visual metafunctions in constructing campaign imagery and messages in public spaces.
