Abstract

TREN GLOBAL SPORT TOURISM DAN IMPLIKASINYA BAGI PERKEMBANGAN WISATA OLAHRAGA REKREASI. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tren global penelitian sport tourism melalui pendekatan bibliometrik dan mengkaji implikasinya terhadap pengembangan wisata olahraga rekreasi di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif berbasis analisis bibliometrik terhadap 362 artikel berbahasa Inggris (jenis review dan research article) yang bersumber dari basis data Scopus dengan kata kunci "Sport tourism" pada rentang tahun 2002–2026. Data dianalisis menggunakan Mendeley untuk pengelolaan metadata dan VOSviewer untuk analisis co-occurrence kata kunci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa publikasi sport tourism meningkat signifikan sejak 2011 dan mencapai puncaknya pada 2019 (35 artikel), sempat menurun akibat pandemi COVID-19, lalu stabil pada kisaran 22–32 artikel per tahun sejak 2022. Analisis klaster mengidentifikasi delapan kelompok tema utama, mencakup event tourism dan dampak ekonomi, wisata aktif dan keberlanjutan, gaya hidup dan konteks global, manajemen dan pemasaran, motivasi wisatawan, kepuasan dan citra destinasi, pengembangan instrumen penelitian, serta pembangunan ekonomi berbasis olahraga. Temuan ini menunjukkan pergeseran fokus kajian dari pendekatan event- oriented menuju experience-oriented tourism yang menekankan keberlanjutan, aktivitas fisik, dan nilai emosional wisatawan. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, wisata olahraga rekreasi berbasis komunitas yang bersifat accessible, sosial, dan low- impact memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai daya tarik wisata di kota-kota besar Indonesia seperti Jakarta, Bali, dan Yogyakarta, sejalan dengan prinsip sustainable recreational sport tourism yang menjadi tren dominan secara global. Kata kunci: sport tourism, analisis bibliometrik, VOSviewer, olahraga rekreasi, Indonesia.*****GLOBAL SPORT TOURISM TRENDS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF RECREATIONAL SPORT TOURISM ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze global trends in sport tourism research through a bibliometric approach and to examine its implications for the development of recreational sport tourism in Indonesia. A quantitative bibliometric method was applied to 362 English-language articles (review and research articles) retrieved from the Scopus basis data using the keyword "Sport tourism" for the period 2002– 2026. Data were managed using Mendeley and analyzed through keyword co- occurrence mapping in VOSviewer. The results show that publications on sport tourism grew significantly from 2011 onward, peaking in 2019 (35 articles), declining temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and stabilizing at 22–32 articles per year from 2022. Cluster analysis identified eight major thematic groups, covering event tourism and economic impact, active and sustainable tourism, lifestyle and global context, management and marketing, tourist motivation, satisfaction and destination image, research instrument development, and sport-based economic development. These findings indicate a shift from an event-oriented approach toward experience-oriented tourism, emphasizing sustainability, physical activity, and the emotional value of tourist experiences. Building on these findings, community-based recreational sport tourism activities that are accessible, social, and low-impact show strong potential as tourist attractions in major Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Bali, and Yogyakarta, in line with the sustainable recreational sport tourism principles that are increasingly dominant worldwide.
