Abstract
Kata Kunci: inovasi pembelajaran, Kurikulum Merdeka, difusi inovasi ***** The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum encourages teachers to develop various instructional innovations to create learning processes that are more flexible, contextual, and student-centered. However, the adoption of instructional innovation does not occur automatically; rather, it is influenced by the social and institutional conditions within the school environment. This study aims to analyze the social and institutional factors influencing the adoption of instructional innovation, describe the adoption process and the forms of instructional innovation implemented, and examine the dynamics and challenges encountered in adopting instructional innovation under the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Negeri 61 Jakarta. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students of SMA Negeri 61 Jakarta, located on Jl. Taruna Pahlawan Revolusi, Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta. The analysis was guided by Everett M. Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations Theory to examine the process of adopting instructional innovation in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. The research was conducted from August 2025 to February 2026. The findings indicate that the adoption of instructional innovation at SMA Negeri 61 Jakarta was supported by a school culture that was open to change, collaboration among teachers, and strong leadership support. The instructional innovations identified include technology-based innovations through the use of Nearpod, digital drawing tablets, and various interactive learning media; innovations aimed at strengthening academic achievement and student participation through outdoor learning, the Morning Literacy Program, and the KOMPOS Program; as well as contextual innovation through the Social Security Literacy Pilot Project implemented within the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). The adoption process progressed through the stages of awareness and acceptance, dissemination, and decision-making to adopt innovations based on subject characteristics and instructional needs. The dynamics influencing this process included institutional support, communication and collaboration among teachers, as well as challenges such as limited time, the need to adapt innovations to subject-specific characteristics, and differences in teachers' readiness to adopt instructional innovation. Keywords: instructional innovation, Merdeka Curriculum, diffusion of innovations.
