Abstract

***** This study aims to determine the effect of intolerance of uncertainty (IU) and rumination on career decision making difficulties (CDMD) among working students. Working students are college students who pursue their studies while working, exposing them to various career choices and uncertainties that can potentially lead to difficulties in career decision making. This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The participants consisted of 210 active college students who were working as interns or part-timers under a work-from-office (WFO) or hybrid arrangement. Data were collected using the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ), the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 (IUS-12), and the Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS), and then analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that IU and rumination simultaneously had a significant effect on CDMD. Partially, IU had a significant positive effect on CDMD, whereas rumination did not show a significant effect on CDMD. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that IU plays an important role in increasing career decision-making difficulties among working students, while rumination was not proven to have a significant effect on CDMD.
