Abstract
***** This study was conducted to examine the effect of self-control on overall quality of life as well as on each dimension of quality of life among emerging adults residing in the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Area (Jabodetabek). This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method, with hypothesis testing conducted through Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to investigate the simultaneous effect of self-control on all dimensions of quality of life. The instruments used in this study were the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) to measure self-control and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) to assess quality of life across four dimensions: physical health, psychological well-being, social relationships, and environmental conditions. The sampling technique applied was convenience sampling, and data were collected through an online questionnaire. The participants consisted of 268 respondents aged 18–25 years who resided in the Jabodetabek area. The findings revealed that self-control had a significant effect on the quality of life of emerging adults. Furthermore, the effect was found to be positive, indicating that individuals with higher levels of self-control tend to report higher levels of quality of life. This positive relationship was observed both in overall quality of life and across each dimension of quality of life.
