Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penggunaan strategi kesantunan positif dan negatif, serta fungsi kedua strategi tersebut dalam mengelola ancaman muka pada podcast “Spotlight S2 – Chapter 3: Navigating Your 20s” di kanal YouTube @modmedia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan pragmatik berdasarkan teori strategi kesantunan Brown dan Levinson. Data berupa ujaran verbal yang telah ditranskripsikan dari percakapan antara Maudy Ayunda sebagai pewara dan Iman Usman sebagai narasumber. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui tahap identifikasi, klasifikasi, dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk strategi kesantunan positif direalisasikan melalui sepuluh substrategi, yaitu (1) membesar-besarkan perhatian, persetujuan, dan simpati kepada mitra tutur, (2) mengintensifkan perhatian terhadap mitra tutur, (3) menggunakan penanda identitas kelompok, (4) mencari kesepakatan, (5) menghindari ketidaksetujuan, (6) menunjukkan kesamaan pandangan atau pengalaman (7) menunjukkan pemahaman terhadap keinginan mitra tutur, (8) melibatkan penutur dan mitra tutur dalam suatu aktivitas, (9) memberikan atau meminta alasan, serta (10) memberikan hadiah kepada mitra tutur. Adapun bentuk strategi kesantunan negatif direalisasikan melalui tiga substrategi, yaitu (1) menggunakan pembatas, (2) meminta maaf, dan (3) menyatakan tindak tutur sebagai aturan umum. Strategi kesantunan positif berfungsi memenuhi muka positif melalui pembangunan kedekatan, solidaritas, dan penghargaan, sedangkan strategi kesantunan negatif berfungsi menjaga muka negatif dengan mengurangi kesan memaksa dan memberikan ruang kebebasan bertindak kepada mitra tutur. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan strategi kesantunan dipengaruhi oleh hubungan interpersonal penutur, tujuan komunikatif, dan konteks percakapan sehingga strategi kesantunan berperan dalam mengelola ancaman muka serta mendukung terciptanya komunikasi yang harmonis dalam podcast. **** This study aims to describe the use of positive and negative politeness strategies, as well as the function of both strategies in managing face threats.podcast “Spotlight S2 – Chapter 3: Navigating Your 20s”on the YouTube channel @modmedia. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach based on Brown and Levinson's politeness strategy theory. The data are in the form of verbal utterances that have been transcribed from conversations between Maudy Ayunda as the host and Iman Usman as the resource person. Data were collected through documentation techniques, then analyzed through the stages of identification, classification, and interpretation. The results of the study show that the form of positive politeness strategies is realized through ten substrate strategies, namely (1) exaggerating attention, agreement, and sympathy for the speech partner, (2) intensifying attention to the speech partner, (3) using group identity markers, (4) seeking agreement, (5) avoiding disagreement, (6) showing a common view or experience (7) showing understanding of the desires of the speech partner, (8) involving the speaker and speech partner in an activity, (9) giving or asking for reasons, and (10) giving gifts to the speech partner. The form of negative politeness strategies is realized through three substrate strategies, namely (1) using limits, (2) apologizing, and (3) stating speech acts as general rules. Positive politeness strategies serve to fulfill positive face through building closeness, solidarity, and respect, while negative politeness strategies serve to maintain negative face by reducing the impression of coercion and providing freedom of action to the interlocutor. Research findings indicate that the choice of politeness strategies is influenced by the speaker's interpersonal relationship, communicative goals, and conversational context so that politeness strategies play a role in managing face threats and supporting the creation of harmonious communication in podcasts.
