Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya peran pola asuh orang tua dalam membentuk karakter anak, terkhusus pada fase remaja, yang direpresentasikan melalui media film sebagai cerminan realitas sosial di masyarakat. Serial drama Korea “Reply 1988” dipilih sebagai objek kajian karena merepresentasikan beragam bentuk pola asuh dari beberapa keluarga yang tinggal dalam satu lingkungan yang sama, tetapi menunjukkan penerapan pola asuh yang berbeda-beda. Film ini ditayangkan pada bulan November 2015 hingga Januari 2016 dengan waktu penayangan 2 episode per minggu setiap hari jumat dan sabtu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan melakukan observasi secara menyeluruh pada tanda atau simbol melalui sebuah adegan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah menganalisis setiap scene di episode satu dan dua drama Korea “Reply 1988”. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis gambar, teks, serta suara pada setiap scene dengan menggunakan semiotika model Roland Barthes melalui analisis penanda denotatif, petanda denotatif, tanda denotatif, makna denotatif, serta mengaitkan penanda konotatif, petanda konotatif, tanda konotatif, makna konotatif, serta analisis mitos. Waktu penelitian ini dilaksanakan secara bertahap dan interval, mulai dari Desember 2024 hingga Juli 2026. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa serial drama Korea “Reply 1988” merepresentasikan beragam pola asuh orang tua, yaitu pola asuh otoriter, penelantaran, demokratis, dan permisif, melalui tokoh Sung Deok Sun, Sun Woo, Kim Jung Hwan, Choi Taek, dan Ryu Dong Ryong yang secara denotatif tampak dalam interaksi sehari-hari, secara konotatif memuat relasi kuasa dan kasih sayang dengan pengekspresian yang berbeda, serta secara mitos mengungkap ideologi pengasuhan yang dikonstruksikan masyarakat Korea Selatan, seperti pembagian peran gender dan pergeseran citra ayah menjadi lebih terbuka secara emosional. **** This research is motivated by the importance of the role of parenting patterns in shaping a child's character, particularly during the adolescent phase, which is represented through film as a reflection of social reality in society. The Korean drama series “Reply 1988” was chosen as the object of study because it represents various forms of parenting from several families living in the same neighborhood, yet demonstrating different implementations of parenting styles. This film aired from November 2015 to January 2016, with two episodes broadcast per week every Friday and Saturday This research uses a qualitative approach. The method used is a descriptive method by conducting a thorough observation of signs or symbols through a scene. The subject of this research is the analysis of every scene in episodes one and two of the Korean drama “Reply 1988”. The data collection technique in this research uses the analysis of images, text, and sound in each scene by using Roland Barthes' semiotics model through the analysis of denotative signifiers, denotative signifieds, denotative signs, denotative meanings, as well as linking connotative signifiers, connotative signifieds, connotative signs, connotative meanings, and myth analysis. This research is carried out gradually and in intervals, starting from December 2024 to July 2026. The research results show that the Korean drama series “Reply 1988” represents various parenting styles, namely authoritarian, neglectful, democratic, and permissive, through the characters Sung Deok Sun, Sun Woo, Kim Jung Hwan, Choi Taek, and Ryu Dong Ryong, which are denotatively visible in daily interactions, connotatively contain power relations and affection with different expressions, and mythically reveal parenting ideologies naturalized by South Korean society, such as gender role division and the shift in the image of fathers becoming more emotionally open
