Abstract

Fenomena generasi sandwich menjadi persoalan sosial yang direpresentasikan dalam film Home Sweet Loan melalui tokoh Kaluna, seorang perempuan yang menghadapi tanggung jawab ekonomi, keluarga, dan kehidupan pribadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis resepsi perempuan generasi sandwich yang tergabung dalam Komunitas Sobat Sandwich terhadap representasi generasi sandwich dalam film Home Sweet Loan. Penelitian menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme,pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis studi analisis resepsi, serta modelEncoding-Decoding Stuart Hall. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara semiterstruktur terhadap lima informan perempuan generasi sandwich dan wawancara dengan satu triangulator ahli untuk mendukung keabsahan data. Data dikodekan dengan bantuan NVivo untuk mengorganisasikan transkrip, kode, dan kategori sistematis, sedangkan interpretasi tetap dilakukan oleh peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa resepsi informan bersifat beragam dan kontekstual. Pemaknaan diorganisasikan ke dalam empat tema, yaitu representasi generasi sandwich dalam film, peran perempuan sebagai generasi sandwich, pengorbanan dan otonomi perempuan, serta konstruksi gender terhadap perempuan. Posisi dominant-hegemonic muncul ketika representasi film dianggap sesuai dengan pengalaman informan, posisi negotiated muncul ketika makna film diterima dengan penyesuaian terhadap kondisi pribadi, sedangkan posisi oppositional muncul ketika informan menolak makna yang dianggap tidak sesuai dengan realitas atau menormalisasi pengorbanan dan ketimpangan gender. Posisi resepsi tidak melekat secara tetap pada setiap informan, melainkan dapat berubah sesuai tema yang dimaknai. Interpretasi menggunakan Teori Performativitas Gender Judith Butler menunjukkan bahwa norma mengenai perempuan yang kuat, peduli, dan mengutamakan keluarga dapat direproduksi melalui praktik sosial. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa perempuan generasi sandwich merupakan khalayak aktif yang memaknai film berdasarkan pengalaman hidup, nilai keluarga, kondisi ekonomi, otonomi, dan pengalaman gender. ***** The sandwich generation is a social issue represented in Home Sweet Loan through Kaluna, a woman facing multiple family responsibilities. This study analyzes the reception of sandwich generation women in the Sobat Sandwich Community toward the representation of the sandwich generation in Home Sweet Loan. The study employs a constructivist paradigm, a descriptive qualitative approach with reception analysis as the study type, and Stuart Hall’s Encoding-Decoding model. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five sandwich generation informants and one expert triangulator to support data credibility. NVivo assisted coding by organizing transcripts, codes, and categories, while interpretation remained the researcher’s responsibility. The findings show that informants’ receptions are diverse and contextual. Their interpretations were organized into four themes: representation of the sandwich generation in the film, women’s roles as the sandwich generation, women’s sacrifice and autonomy, and gender constructions surrounding women. The dominant-hegemonic position emerged when the film’s representation corresponded with informants’ experiences, the negotiated position appeared when the film’s meanings were accepted with adjustments to personal circumstances, and the oppositional position emerged when informants rejected meanings considered inconsistent with reality or normalizing sacrifice and gender inequality. Reception positions were not fixed for each informant but varied according to the theme interpreted. Interpretation using Judith Butler’s Gender Performativity Theory indicates that norms portraying women as strong, caring, and family-oriented can be reproduced through social practices. The findings confirm that sandwich generation women are active audiences who interpret films through lived experiences, family values, economic conditions, autonomy, and gendered experiences.
