Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh parenting sense of competence (PSOC) terhadap parenting stress pada ibu muda. Isu ini penting karena kajian terdahulu mengenai hubungan langsung kedua variabel umumnya berfokus pada ibu dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus dan ibu berusia relatif matang, sehingga dinamikanya pada ibu muda masih jarang dieksplorasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Partisipan berjumlah 283 ibu berusia 18–25 tahun dengan satu anak yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Variabel diukur menggunakan skala stres pengasuhan hasil adaptasi Parenting Stress Scale (Berry & Jones, 1995) oleh Kumalasari dkk. (2022) dan skala Parenting Sense of Competence hasil adaptasi Johnston dan Mash (1989) oleh Putri dkk. (2023). Analisis data menggunakan regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan IBM SPSS versi 30. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PSOC berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap parenting stress (β = –0,202; t = –3,466; p = 0,001) dengan persamaan Y = 34,259 – 0,223X. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 0,041 menunjukkan bahwa PSOC menjelaskan 4,1% varians parenting stress, sementara 95,9% sisanya dijelaskan oleh faktor lain di luar model. Kata kunci: parenting sense of competence, parenting stress, ibu muda. ***** This study aimed to examine the effect of parenting sense of competence (PSOC) on parenting stress among young mothers. This topic is important because previous studies on the direct relationship between the two variables have largely focused on mothers of children with special needs and relatively older mothers, leaving the dynamics among young mothers underexplored. A quantitative approach. Participants were 283 mothers aged 18–25 years with one child, selected through purposive sampling. The variables were measured using a parenting stress scale adapted from the Parenting Stress Scale (Berry & Jones, 1995) by Kumalasari et al. (2022) and a Parenting Sense of Competence scale adapted from Johnston and Mash (1989) by Putri et al. (2023). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with IBM SPSS version 30. The results showed that PSOC had a significant negative effect on parenting stress (β = –0.202; t = –3,466; p = 0.001), with the regression equation Y = 34,259 – 0,223X. The coefficient of determination (R2 = 0,041) indicated that PSOC accounted for 4.1% of the variance in parenting stress. Keywords: parenting sense of competence, parenting stress, young mothers.
