Abstract
Pacuan kuda merupakan salah satu budaya masyarakat Dompu sebagai sarana hiburan rakyat bagi masyarakat setempat, khususnya anak-anak usia dini. Budaya pacua kuda memiliki keunikan dimana anak-anak usia 4-8 tahun menjadi penunggang kuda (joki cilik). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menggali; gambaran budaya pacuan kuda; bagaimana proses pengembangan kemampuan fisik motorik anak melalui budaya berkuda; nilai-nilai karakter yang terbangun pada anak melalui budaya berkuda; dan proses penanaman nilai-nilai karakater pada anak melalui budaya berkuda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Data dihimpun melalui observasi (deksriptif, terfokus dan terpilih), wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis domain, analisis taksonomi, analisis komponensial dan analisis tema. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas tujuh joki cilik berusia 4-8 tahun serta tujuh pemiliki kuda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eksistensi budaya berkuda dilatarbelakangi faktor sejarah, geografis dan agama. Sementara pengembangan kemampuan fisik motorik melalui berkuda dilakukan melalui empat tahap; menonton, memotivasi, mencoba, lalu praktek. Dengan menunggang dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan fisik motorik dan kemampuan sonsori integrasi anak. Penelitian terdahulu menunjukkan bahwa berkuda dapat menjadi media intervensi terapi bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus, untuk mendukung perkembangan fisik motoriknya. Selain itu, pengembangan keterampilan motorik kasar anak melalui budaya pacuan kuda dapat dipraktekan langsung sejak anak berusia empat tahun. Budaya pacuan kuda memiliki nilai-nilai karakter yang terbangun pada joki cilik seperti; karakter religius, disiplin, mandiri, cinta lingkungan, menghargai prestasi, kerja keras dan karakter bersahabat. Proses pembentukan karakter melalui budaya pacuan kuda dilakukan dengan metode pembiasaan, keteladanan dan keterlibatan langsung anak pada lingkungan sosial. ***************** Horse racing is one of the Dompu people's cultures as a means of folk entertainment for the local community, especially early childhood. Horse racing culture is unique where children aged 4-8 become horsemen (little jockeys). This study aims to identify and explore; how is the culture of horse racing; the process of developing children's motor physical abilities through horse culture; character values that are developed in children through the horse culture the culture of riding; and the process of inculcating character values in children through horse culture. This research used a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data were collected through observation (descriptive, focused and selected), interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using domain analysis techniques, taxonomic analysis, compound analysis and theme analysis. The research subjects consisted of seven young jockeys aged 4-8 years and seven horse owners. The results showed that the existence of equestrian culture was motivated by historical, geographical and religious factors. The development of motor physical abilities through riding is carried out through four stages; watch, motivate, try, then practice. Riding can help to improve the physical abilities of the motor and the ability to sponsor integration of children. Previous research showed that riding can be a therapeutic intervention medium for children with special needs, to support their physical motor development. In addition, the development of children's gross motor skills through horse racing culture can be practiced directly since the child is four years old. Horse racing culture has character values that are built on young jockeys such as; religious character, discipline, independent, love the environment, appreciate achievement, hard work and friendly character. The process of character building through horse racing culture is carried out through methods of habituation, example and direct involvement of children in the social environment.
