Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui symbolism dan arti dari symblolism tersebut yang terdapat di dalam novel The Hobbit karya dari J.R.R Tolkiens. Penulis menggunakan teori analisis Structuralis m dari Eoman Jakobson untuk menganalisa dan mengkategorasikan tipe symbolism yang ditemukan di dalam novel “The Hobbit”. Sumber data penelitian ini menggunakan novel “The Hobbit”. Data penelitian ini menggunakan narration dan di alogue antar karakter yang terdapat dalam novel. Penelitian ini menggunakan data deskriptif analiktik untuk mendeskripsikan tipe symbolism yang terd apat dalam novel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat enam symbolism of object, tiga symbolism of location dan satu symbolism of animals dari sepul uh tipe symbolism yang telah di analisa di dalam novel. This study aims to determine Symbolism and meaning of the symbolism contained in the novel The Hobbit works of J.R.R Tolk iens. The author uses the theory of Roman Jakobson’s Structuralism to analy ze and categorizes types of symbolism found in the novel "The Hobbit". This st udy uses data source novel "The Hobbit". This research data using narration and dialogue between the characters contained in the novel. This research uses descriptive data to descri be the type of Symbolism contained in the novel. These results indicate that there are six Symbolism of object, three Symbolism of location and the Symbolism of animals from ten types of Symbolism which have been analyzed in the novel.
