Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan prasangka terhadap ras Negroid yang terdapat dalam kumpuln esai karya Gaston Kelman yang berjudul Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc , dengan megelompokkan kutipan-kutipan kalimat yang mengindikasikan adanya prasangka. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan informasi tambahan kepada pembaca terkait prasangka yang ditujukan oleh orang kulit putih kepada ras Negroid di Perancis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Objek yang diteliti adalah kumpulan esai Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc yang terdiri dari 9 judul esai. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada kutipan kalimat yang terdapat pada setiap judul esai. Pertama, diuraikan beberapa konsep teori terkait prasangka, konsep ras Negroid, konsep esai, dan konsep sosiologi sastra. Untuk menganalisis prasangka terhadap ras negroid dalam kumpulan esai karya Gaston Kelman yang berjudul Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc , data yang terkumpul diinterpretasikan dan dibahas menurut teori unsur prasangka. Unsur�unsur prasangka tersebut kemudian dikelompokan menjadi 3 yakni unsur kognitif, unsur afektif, dan unsur motivasional.. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ras Negroid atau orang negro mendapat prasangka dari masyarakat. Unsur kognitif dari prasangka masyarakat ditandai dengan kepercayaan dan stereotip dari masyarakat yang ditujukan kepada ras Negroid. Unsur afektif ditandai dengan rasa suka dan rasa tidak suka yang dimiliki masyarakat terhadap ras Negroid. Selanjutnya unsur motivasional ditandai dengan kecenderungan masyarakat untuk melakukan tindakan yang ditujukan kepada ras Negroid. This research has an aim to explain the prejudices towards the Negroes in Gaston Kelman’s essays entitled Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc, by grouping the sentences which indicate the prejudice. The result of this research may give more informations to the readers about prejudice of the White people toward Black people or the Negroes in France. The applied methode of this research is qualitative descriptive using sociology of literature approach. The observed object is the essays Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc which contain 9 titles of essay. This research is focused on the sentences in every title of essays. Firstly, the concept of the theories are explained such as the theory of prejudice, Negroid race, essay, and sociology of leterature. For analysing the prejudices towards the Negroes in Gaston Kelman’s essays Je Suis Noir et Je N’aime Pas Le Manioc , the collected data are interpreted and analysed based on the theory of prejudice elements. There are three elements of prejudice ; cognitive element, affectif element, and motivational element. The result of this research shows that the Negroes get the prejudices from the society, especially from the White people. The cognitive element of prejudice signed by beliefs and stereotypes. The affective element marked by attraction and repulsion. The motivational element indicated by the tendency of the society to do an action to the Negroes.
