Abstract

Kebutuhan sign system luar-ruang di Universitas Negeri Jakarta sangat diperlukan terlebih untuk tamu yang baru pertama kali datang. Dikarenakan desain signage kurang menarik, penempatan kurang optimal, seperti terlalu tinggi dan tidak eye level. Maka dari itu, perupa mengambil Skripsi Penciptaan Karya Seni Rupa dengan judul “Desain Sign System Luar-Ruang Bertema Ornamen Tradisional Betawi Di Universitas Negeri Jakarta”. Bertujuan untuk memperbaharui sign system yang sudah ada di Universitas Negeri Jakarta dengan mengangkat ornamen tradisional Betawi sebagai identitas, berdasarkan lokasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif merupakan metode penelitian yang dapat digunakan untuk mengeksplorasi dan memahami makna yang berasal dari masalah-masalah sosial atau kemanusiaan (Farida, 2014:25). Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu dengan survey lapangan, kuesioner dan eksplorasi yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis etnografis. Kesimpulan dari penelitian berdasarkan analisis karya, desain sign system dirancang mampu mempermudah pengunjung dan sivitas akademika Universitas Negeri Jakarta untuk mengetahui lokasi-lokasi yang ada di dalam lingkungan kampus. Dengan desain sign system yang mengangkat tema kebudayaan lokal di tempat Universitas Negeri Jakarta berada, yaitu Kembang Kelapa. Terinspirasi dari ombak yang berada di Pantai Sunda Kelapa. Merupakan salah satu ikon budaya Betawi berdasarkan Peraturan Gubernur Provinsi DKI Jakarta Nomor 11 Tahun 2017, ayat 2. Ikon Kembang Kelapa dideformasi bentuk aslinya tanpa menghilangkan makna yang terkandung di dalamnya menjadi ornamen. - The need for an outdoor sign system at Universitas Negeri Jakarta is especially necessary for first-time guests. Due to the less attractive signage design, the placement is less than optimal, such as too high and not eye level. Therefore, the artist takes a Thesis on the Creation of Fine Art Works entitled " Outdoor Sign System Design with Traditional Betawi Ornament Themed at Universitas Negeri Jakarta". It aims to renew the existing sign system at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta by lifting traditional Betawi ornaments as identity, based on location. This study used qualitative research methods. Qualitative research is a research method that can be used to explore and understand the meaning that comes from social or humanitarian problems (Farida, 2014:25). The data collection techniques were field survey, questionnaire and exploration which were analyzed using ethnographic analysis techniques. The conclusion from the research is based on the analysis of the work, the sign system design is designed to make it easier for visitors and the Universitas Negeri Jakarta academic community to find out the locations on the campus environment. With a sign system design that carries the theme of local culture at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, namely Kembang Kelapa. Inspired by the waves on the Sunda Kelapa Beach. It is one of the Betawi cultural icons based on the Regulation of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 11 of 2017, paragraph 2. The Kembang Kelapa Icon is deformed from its original form without losing the meaning contained in it to become an ornament.
