Abstract

Representasi merupakan proses pemaknaan untuk mewakili atau mengambarkan sesuatu yang telah diserap oleh indera seseorang ke dalam pikiran, dimana maknanya tergantung dengan bagaimana seseorang itu mengungkapkan suatu hal tersebut melalui penggunaan bahasa atau tanda-tanda. Kucing domestik adalah hewan yang paling banyak dipelihara di dunia. Mereka memiliki karakter dan perilaku yang berbeda dan akan berkembang seiring dengan pertumbuhannya. Penciptaan karya merepresentasikan kucing yang memiliki kelekatan dengan perupa atau dapat didefinisikan sebagai pet attachment, yaitu ikatan emotional yang dimiliki oleh pemilik dengan hewan peliharaannya untuk mendapatkan atau menjaga rasa aman. Kelekatan dengan hewan peliharaan memiliki pengaruh positif bagi manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif dengan pendekatan Artistic Research. Penciptaan karya ini menggunakan interes seni reflektif, interes bentuk semi figuratif, dan prinsip estetika modern. Karya dibuat sebagai refleksi perasaan kasih sayang terhadap kucing sebagai hewan peliharaan yang memiliki peran positif dalam kehidupan perupa. Karya divisualisasikan dalam bentuk karya seni patung. Bahan yang digunakan yaitu paper clay dengan teknik utama yaitu teknik membentuk. Penciptaan karya ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kesan positif dan lebih peduli terhadap kucing bagi masyarakat. Representation is a process of meaning to represent or describe something that has been absorbed by the senses into the mind, which meaning depends on how someone expresses something through the use of language or signs. Domestic cats are the most domesticated animals in the world. They have different characters and behaviors and will develop along with their growth. The creation of the artworks represents a cat that has an attachment to the artist or can be defined as a pet attachment, or an emotional bond that the owner has with his pet to gain or maintain a sense of security. Attachment to pets has a positive effect on humans.This study used a qualitative methodology with an artistic research approach. The creation of this work uses the reflective art of interest, semi-figurative forms of interest, and the modern aesthetics interest. The work is made as a reflection of the artist’s affection for cats as pets, which have a positive role in the owner’s life. The artworks are visualized into sculpture. The material used is paper clay with the modeling technique as the main technique. The creation of this work is expected to givethe public a positive impression and care more about cats.
