Abstract

Majas digunakan dalam lirik lagu untuk menciptakan imajinasi para pendengar. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui majas yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu Muse, terutama dalam album Drones. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkapkan jenis majas yang sering digunakan dalam lirik lagu Muse. Penulis juga menggambarkan arti tersirat dari majas dalam lirik lagu Muse. Metode analisis digunakan penulis untuk menganalisa konten dalam lagu Muse yang terdiri dari kata�kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat yang mengandung majas berdasarkan teori Arp & Johnson. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa ada 55 majas dalam lirik lagu Muse dalam album Drones. Dari 55 majas, ada 14 metafora (25,5%), 1 asosiasi (1,8%), 14 personifikasi (25,5%), 6 sinekdok (10,9%), 4 simbol (7,3%), 5 paradoks (9,1%), 8 Hiperbola (14,5%). Metafora dan Personifikasi adalah majas yang paling sering digunakan dalam lirik lagu Muse dengan presentase (25,5%). Dengan menggunakan metafora, penulis lagu menyampaikan ide tentang harapan dan cinta dengan mengumpamakannya melalui kata “magic”. Lalu sebaliknya, kata “program’” dan “virus” digunakan sebagai symbol hal yang negatif atau buruk. Selanjutnya, personifikasi menggunakan kata "The drone" untuk mengarahkan imajinasi pendengar dan merasakan emosi dari penulis lirik lagu dengan membuat "The drone" terlihat hidup seperti seorang manusia. Figurative language is used in song lyrics to create imagination to the listeners. This study is conducted to find out figurative language used in Muse’s song lyrics; especially in Drones album. The purposes of the study are to reveal the kinds of figurative language that Muse mostly used in their song lyrics. The writer also figures out the implied meanings of figurative language in Muse’s song lyrics. Content analysis method is used because the writer analyzes the content of Muse’s, which are words, phrases, clauses, and sentence that contain figurative languages, based on Arp & Johnson’s theory of figurative language. The findings reveal that there are 55 figurative languages in Muse’s song lyrics in the album Drones. From 55 figurative languages, there are 14 metaphors (25.5%), 1 similes (1.8%), 14 personifications (25.5%), 6 synecdoches (10.9%), 4 symbols (7.3%), 5 paradoxes (9.1%), 8 hyperboles (14.5%). Metaphor and Personification are the most dominant figurative language that is used in Muse’s song lyrics with its percentage (25.5%). Using metaphor, the songwriters convey the meaning of hope as something magical and loving and the meaning of unpleasant condition is imaginatively presented among others with the machine-related words such as program, virus, this is related to the result of another dominant figurative language used in Muse song Lyric, personification. Using personification such as “The drone”, the song writer leads the imagination of the listener to feel the emotions and feelings from the writer and make “The drone” as the main object look alive.
