Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of generative learning models on mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of habits of mind students of senior high school in Tangerang City. This research was conducted in Senior High School of 3 Tangerang and Senior High School of 13 Tangerang in class X second semester of school year 2018/2019. This study use a quasi-experimental method with treatment by level 2×2 consist of two variables: (1) learning approach with generative learning models and conventional model, (2) high and low habits of mind. A sample of 96 senior high school students. Data collection in this study used instruments of mathematical problem solving abilities in the form of essays on the material of the sine and cosine rules. The data was first performed a prerequisite test, namely the normality test using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, and the homogeneity test using the Levene's test. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and t-test. The result of this study indicate that there is an effect of the implementation of generative learning models on mathematical problem solving abilities, especially for students having high habits of mind, and there is an interaction between model and habits of mind on mathematical problem solving abilities.
