Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menilai estetika teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang sebagai hiasan upcycling pada jaket denim secondhand. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan pre-experimental design, one-shot case study. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen angket yang diberikan kepada 5 panelis ahli untuk menilai, dengan variabel tunggal yaitu penilaian estetika teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang sebagai hiasan upcycling, serta indikator berupa unsur desain dan prinsip desain. Penilaian diukur dengan rating scale. Hasil penelitian pada indikator prinsip desain memperoleh skor tertinggi dengan nilai 83.10% dengan hasil baik, hal ini mengartikan bahwa berdasarkan aspek proporsi, pusat perhatian, harmoni, dan irama sudah menerapkan prinsip-prinsip desain, penilaian ditampilkan secara keseluruhan aspek teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang sebagai hiasan upcycling pada jaket denim. Pada urutan kedua, indikator unsur desain mendapat nilai 82.88% dengan hasil baik, karena sudah menerapkan unsur-unsur desain yang meliputi penerapan bentuk naturalis yaitu motif terumbu karang, warna kontras atau komplementer, serta ukuran dan tekstur yang sudah sesuai. Hasil penilaian dari lima desain produk teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang, desain 4 mendapatkan skor tertinggi dengan nilai 87.07% berdasarkan pendapat panelis, bahwa pemilihan bentuk hiasan, kesesuaian motif, ukuran, dan tekstur sangat sesuai dalam penerapannya sebagai hiasan upcycling, secara keseluruhan memiliki proporsi yang seimbang, dan menjadi pusat perhatian pada penyusunan teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang yang terstruktur. Keseluruhan akhir nilai estetika teknik aplikasi motif terumbu karang dapat menjadi alternatif hiasan upcycling dalam memperpanjang masa pakai busana. ***** This study was conducted to assess the aesthetic of coral reef applique technique as upcycling decoration. Research method using quantitative descriptive with pre-experimental design, one-shot case study model, and experimented creating 5 design of coral reef applique technique as upcycling decoration. Data collecting technique using questionnaire which given to 5 experts to assess, with single variable namely aesthetic assessment of coral reef applique technique as upcycling decoration, as well as indicators including elements and principles of design. The assessment is measured with rating scale. The results of the study on the design principles obtained the highest score with a value of 83.10% with good results, this means that based on the aspects of proportion, center of attention, harmony, and rhythm have applied design principles, the assessment is displayed as a whole aspect of coral reef applique technique as upcycling decoration on denim jacket. In the second place, the design element indicator scored 82.88% with good results, because it has implemented design elements which include the application of naturalist forms in accordance with the inspiration of the coral reefs, contrasting or complementary colors, and appropriate sizes and textures. The results of the assessment of the five product designs coral reef applique techniques, design 4 got the highest score with a value of 87.07% based on the opinion of the panelists, that the selection of decoration forms, patterns, sizes, and textures is very appropriate in its application as upcycling decoration, overall has a proportion balance, and become the center of attention in the preparation of structured coral reef applique techniques. The overall final aesthetic value of coral reef applique techniques can be an alternative to upcycling decorations in extending the life cycle of clothing.
