Abstract
Critical thinking is a pivotal skill in the 21st century, in line with this, the Indonesian government encourages the implementation of critical thinking in the Indonesian education system, although there is still a lack of appropriate materials to support these skills. This study aimed to develop critical thinking skills integrated – reading materials for the B1 level in English Language Education Study Program. The study applied Research and development (R&D) by adapting Jolly and Bolitho’s (2011) model as the research design and qualitative as the research method. The stages of R & D in this study are need analysis, developing course grid of material, developing material, evaluation of materials, and write the revised materials. The result of the study revealed that the critical thinking skills are mostly integrated in reading materials. However, the integration of critical thinking skills was explicitly or implicitly mentioned in reading materials. The study provides procedure of critical thinking skills indicators integration and the develop critical thinking skills integrated reading materials. Therefore, the three unit of reading materials was developed based on the critical thinking skills infusion table which consists of pre-reading, whilst-reading and post-reading in each unit.
