Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi, motif, dan jenis tuturan makian berdasarkan referennya pada tokoh Levi Ackerman. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh penggunaan makian yang umumnya menggunaan ungkapan yang kasar dan cenderung merendahkan, ternyata dapat memiliki fungsi yang tidak selalu negatif tergantung pada konteksnya. Sementara itu, tokoh Levi Ackerman dalam anime Attack on Titan dipilih sebagai objek penelitian dikarenakan adanya keunikan pada karakternya, yaitu kontras antara gaya bicaranya yang kasar dan sifatnya yang peduli serta memiliki empati tinggi kepada orang lain. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori jenis makian berdasarkan referennya oleh Wijana (2006), teori motif makian oleh Andersson (1990), dan teori fungsi makian oleh Andersson dan Trudgill (1990). Sedangkan teori SPEAKING oleh Dell Hymes (1972) dijadikan sebagai acuan untuk menganalisis konteks tuturan. Teknik Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC) dan teknik catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode padan referensial dan metode padan pragmatik. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan empat fungsi makian, yang mencakup fungsi expletive (2), abusive (17), humorous (7), dan auxiliary (2) dengan makian fungsi abusive menjadi fungsi yang paling banyak digunakan oleh tokoh Levi, hal ini dikarenakan mayoritas tuturan makian tokoh ini ditujukan untuk melukai sasaran secara verbal. Terdapat juga motif yang mendasari penggunaan makian oleh tokoh Levi, yaitu motif psikologis (19), motif sosial (23), dan motif linguistik (4), motif sosial menjadi yang paling banyak digunakan karena mayoritas makiannya dituturkan secara sengaja dan ditujukan kepada orang lain. Lebih lanjut, ditemukan juga jenis-jenis makian berdasarkan referennya yang mencakup referen keadaan (13), binatang (2), benda (4), makhluk halus (2), bagian tubuh (2), aktivitas (4), kekerabatan (0), dan profesi (1). ***** This study aims to understand the functions, motives, and types of swearing utterances of Levi Ackerman's character in Attack on Titan. This is motivated by the usage of swearing which commonly uses dirty words that are inclined to degrade can also have other functions that are not always negative depending on its context. In addition for that, Levi Ackerman’s utterance is chosen to be the object of this study because the character has a unique characteristic, which is the contrast of having a strong empathy and care for others despite his habit of using harsh words. The theories used in this study are the type of swearing based on its reference theory by Wijana (2006), the functions of swearing theory by Andersson and Trudgill (1990), as well as the motives of swearing theory by Andersson (1990). Additionally, SPEAKING theory by Dell Hymes (1972) is also used to analyze context. The data collecting techniques used in this research are uninvolved conversation observation technique and note-taking technique. Besides that, referential identity method and pragmatics identity method are also used as the data analyzing techniques. The results indicate four functions of swearing which includes expletive (2), abusive (17), humorous (7), and auxiliary functions (2). Swearing with abusive function is the most commonly used by Levi, because most of his swearing are uttered to verbally wound the target. Motives that underlie the use of swearing by Levi are psychological (19), social (23), and linguistic motives (4) with social as the most frequently used for the majority of Levi’s swearing utterances were done intentionally to the hearer. Furthermore, eight type of swearing based on its reference are also found which include the reference of conditions (13), animals (2), objects (4), spirits (2), body parts (2), activities (4), kinship (0), and profession (1).
