Abstract

Penelitian ini menjelaskan fenomena Manajemen Impresi Melalui Selfie di Instagram. Terdapat tiga tujuan penelitian. Pertama mendeskripsikan fenomena manajemen impresi melalui selfie di instagram, kedua mendeskripsikan dampak manajemen impresi melalui selfie di instagram , ketiga mendeskripsikan keterkaitan teori dramaturgi goffman dengan fenomena manajemen impresi melalui selfie di instagram. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian berupa studi kasus. Peneliti mengambil data primer melalui wawancara mendalam serta data sekunder melalui pengamatan, dokumentasi, dan kajian literatur. Subjek penelitian ini adalah lima orang mahasiswi UNJ yang berusia sekitar 17-22 tahun dan memiliki ketertarikan terhadap selfie di Instagram. Lokasi penelitian berfokus pada fenomena foto selfie di Universitas Negeri Jakarta dan foto yang diupload ke Instagram. Penelitian dilakukan daribulan Desember 2022 hingga bulan Mei 2023. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang fenomena manajemen impresi melalui selfie di instagram adalah karena fenomena mahasiswa- mahasiswa melakukan selfie, adanya interaksi antarmahasiswa untuk melakukan trend kpop selfie yang terdapat di instagram. Melalui fenomena tersebut, terdapat dampak yang signifikan dimana informan selalu mempersiapkan penampilan terbaiknya di depan orang lain. Begitupun juga di media sosial. Sehingga dari fenomena tersebut, memperlihatkan bahwa adanya suatu bentuk dramaturgi dan manajemen impresi yang ditampilkan mahasiswa-mahasiswi melalui instagram. Hal ini berkaitan dengan teori dramaturgi Erving Goffman yang mana jika dianalisis bahwa seorang aktor mempersiapkan diri di depan panggung baik front stage dan back stage serta ada kesan yang ingin ditampilkan. Kata Kunci: Manajemen Impresi,Selfie, Instagram research explains the phenomenon of Impression Management Through Selfies on Instagram . There are three research objectives. First describe the phenomenon of impression management through selfies on Instagram , the second describes the impact of impression management through selfies on Instagram , third to describe the relationship between Goffman 's dramaturgical theory and the phenomenon of impression management through selfies on Instagram . The research used a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Researchers took primary data through in-depth interviews and secondary data through observation, documentation, and literature review. The subjects of this study were five UNJ students who were around 17-22 years old and had an interest in selfies on Instagram . The research location focuses on the selfie photo phenomenon at Jakarta State University and photos uploaded to Instagram . The research was conducted from December 2022 to May 2023. The results of this study indicate that the background of the phenomenon of impression management through selfies on Instagram is due to the phenomenon of students taking selfies, there is interaction between students to carry out kpop trends. selfies on instagram . Through this phenomenon, there is a significant impact where informants always prepare their best appearance in front of other people. Likewise on social media. So from this phenomenon, it shows that there is a form of dramaturgy and impression management displayed by female students through Instagram . This is related to Erving Goffman's theory of dramaturgy which, if analyzed, shows that an actor prepares himself in front of the stage, both the front stage and the back stage , and there is an impression he wants to show.
