Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan dan menggambarkan pola – pola ketakutan akan kegagalan pada peserta didik kelas sosio-ekonomi menengah atas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dengan jenis desain yang digunakan yaitu explanatory sequential design. Subjek untuk data kuantitatif dalam penelitian ini adalah 434 peserta didik SMP Labschool Jakarta. Pengambilan sampel untuk data kuantitatif menggunakan teknik convenience sampling menghasilkan 208 responden. Informan pada data kualitatif sebanyak lima orang terpilih berdasarkan kriteria yang akan diwawancara lebih lanjut. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan terdiri dari instrumen PFAI yang telah diadaptasi oleh Adira Khansa Martin dan Kuncono Teguh Yunanto (2023) dan wawancara semi terstruktur yang dikembangkan berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Nelson & McDaniel (2023), Law & Finnigan (2021), Conroy et al. (2002), dan buku W. Liu (2010) berjudul Social Class and Classism in the Helping Professions Research, Theory, and Practice. Hasil data kuantitatif menunjukkan ketakutan akan kegagalan pada peserta didik kelas sosio-ekonomi menengah atas berada pada level sedang dengan skor rata – rata 0,12. Lima peserta didik dengan tingkat ketakutan akan kegagalan yang tinggi terpilih untuk di wawancara memiliki rentang skor 1,26 – 1,84. Hasil wawancara dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa faktor ketakutan akan kegagalan pada peserta didik kelas sosio-ekonomi menengah atas dipengaruhi oleh efikasi diri dan budaya kelas sosial. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi wawasan bagi peserta didik sebagai gambaran bagaimana takut gagal itu dapat terjadi dan berdampak pada diri, dan bagi guru bimbingan dan konseling sebagai pengetahuan baru untuk mempermudah memberikan layanan bimbingan klasikal, bimbingan kelompok, konseling kelompok, dan konseling individu. *****This study aims to explain and describe the patterns of fear of failure in upper middle socio-economic class learners. This study uses a mixed method with the type of design used is explanatory sequential design. Subjects for quantitative data in this study were 434 students of SMP Labschool Jakarta. Sampling for quantitative data using convenience sampling technique resulted in 208 respondents. Informants on qualitative data as many as five people were selected based on the criteria to be interviewed further. The data collection tools used consist of PFAI instruments that have been adapted by Adira Khansa Martin and Kuncono Teguh Yunanto (2023) and semi-structured interviews developed based on research conducted by Nelson & McDaniel (2023), Law & Finnigan (2021), Conroy et al. (2002), and W books. Liu (2010) is the author of the book Social Class and Classism in the Helping Professions Research, Theory, and Practice. The results of quantitative data show the fear of failure in upper middle socio-economic class learners are at a moderate level with an average score of 0.12. Five students with a high level of fear of failure were selected for the interview with a score range of 1.26 – 1.84. Interview results were analyzed using thematic analysis. This study found that the fear factor of failure in upper middle socio-economic class learners is influenced by self-efficacy and social class culture. This study is expected to be an insight for students as a picture of how the fear of failure can occur and have an impact on themselves, and for guidance and counseling teachers as new knowledge to make it easier to provide classical guidance services, group guidance, group counseling, and individual counseling.
