Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara perasaan takut tertinggal (FoMO) dengan adiksi media sosial pada mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 290 mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Jakarta angkatan 2020 – 2021. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah instrumen fear of missing out (FoMO) dan instrumen social media addiction yang diadopsi dari peneliti lain. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan semua butir valid kecuali social media addiction item 11 tidak valid sehingga tidak diikutsertakan saat pengambilan data. Uji reliabilitas pada perasaan takut tertinggal (FoMO) sebesar 0.869 dan pada adiksi media sosial sebesar 0.870. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara perasaan takut tertinggal (FoMO) dengan adiksi media sosial pada mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Jakarta dengan koefisisen korelasi 0,521 dan nilai sig.(2-tailed) 0,000 (p<0.05). Kata Kunci : Fear of Missing Out, Adiksi Media Sosial, Mahasiswa This study aims to analyze the relationship between feelings of fear of being left behind (FoMO) and social media addiction in students of the Faculty of Education at Jakarta State of University. This study uses the correlation method with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were 290 students of the Faculty of Education at Jakarta State of University, class of 2020 – 2021. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection tool used was the fear of missing out (FoMO) instrument and the social media addiction instrument which was adopted from other researchers. The results of the validity test showed that all items were valid except for social media addiction item 11, which was invalid, so they were not included in the data collection. The reliability test on the feeling of being left behind (FoMO) is 0.869 and on social media addiction is 0.870. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between fear of being left behind (FoMO) and social media addiction in students of the Faculty of Education at Jakarta State of University with a correlation coefficient of 0.521 and a sig.(2-tailed) value of 0.000 (p<0.05).
