Abstract

***** This research aims to determine the effect of self-control on impulsive buying among students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University who shop online on twin dates. The research method used in this research is a quantitative research method. Researchers used a non-probability sampling technique using purposive sampling with a sample size of 88 students from a population of 112 students. The research was conducted with the condition that the respondent had shopped online on twin dates at least twice and was an active student at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University. The data collection technique used in this research is a questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed, the analysis process was assisted by IBM SPSS 25 Statistics for Windows software. The results of this research show that H1 is accepted from the t test results with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. This means that self-control influences impulsive buying behavior, where the higher the self-control that FIS UNJ students have, the lower the impulsive buying behavior of online shopping on twin dates for FIS UNJ students, and vice versa. Then, the R Squere value is 0.185 or 18.5%, which shows the large contribution of self-control to impulsive buying, while the rest is the influence of other factors not examined in this research. Referring to the interpretation of the coefficient of determination, 18.5% is included in the very low categorization. So it is concluded that there is an influence between self-control on impulsive buying behavior at a very low level in FIS UNJ students.
