Abstract
Membaca kanji merupakan salah satu keterampilan penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jepang. Tanpa kemampuan membaca kanji, pembelajar akan kesulitan memahami makna teks berbahasa Jepang. Namun, membaca kanji menjadi tantangan tersendiri karena karakter kanji memiliki dua cara baca, yaitu on'yomi dan kun'yomi. Kesulitan ini diperparah oleh banyaknya jumlah karakter kanji dan keragaman cara pengucapannya, sehingga sering kali pembelajar mengalami kekeliruan dalam membaca. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan bahan ajar yang tidak hanya membantu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kanji, tetapi juga mengintegrasikan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kolaborasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan bahan ajar digital membaca kanji berbasis berpikir kritis dan kolaborasi; (2) mendesain dan mengembangkan bahan ajar tersebut; dan (3) mendeskripsikan kelayakan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Sampel pada tahap analisis kebutuhan terdiri atas dua orang dosen pengampu mata kuliah Kanji dan 37 mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah tersebut. Pada tahap uji coba produk melibatkan dua orang dosen pengampu mata kuliah Kanji dan 22 mahasiswa. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket dan observasi dengan analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produk bahan ajar digital membaca kanji berbasis berpikir kritis dan kolaborasi dinyatakan layak digunakan berdasarkan penilaian ahli bahasa, ahli materi, dan ahli media. Selain itu, hasil uji coba produk oleh dosen dan mahasiswa juga menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar tersebut layak dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran kanji. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam pengembangan bahan ajar inovatif yang memadukan pendekatan berpikir kritis dan kolaborasi dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jepang, khususnya dalam penguasaan kanji. Kesimpulannya, bahan ajar digital yang dikembangkan mampu menjadi solusi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kanji mahasiswa secara efektif melalui pendekatam yang interaktif, kritis, dan kolaboratif. ***** Reading kanji is one of the essential skills in learning the Japanese language. Without the ability to read kanji, learners will struggle to understand the meaning of Japanese texts. However, reading kanji poses a significant challenge due to its dual readings, on'yomi and kun'yomi. Thus, difficulty is compounded by the large number of kanji characters and their various pronunciations, often leading learners to make mistakes in reading. Therefore, there is a need for instructional materials that not only enhance kanji reading skills but also integrate critical thinking and collaboration abilities. The objectives of this research are: (1) to analyze the needs for developing a digital instructional material for reading kanji based on critical thinking and collaboration; (2) to design and develop the digital instructional material; and (3) to describe the feasibility of the developed material. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The needs analysis involved 2 lecturers of the Kanji course and 37 students enrolled in the course. For the product trial phase, 2 lecturers and 22 students of the kanji course participated. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that the digital instructional material for reading kanji based on critical thinking and collaboration was deemed feasible by experts in language, content, and media. Furthermore, evaluations by lecturers and students confirmed that the developed material is appropriate and effective for use in kanji learning. This research contributes to the development of innovative instructional materials that combine critical thinking and collaborative approaches in Japanese language education, particularly in mastering kanji. In conclusion, the developed digital material offers an effective solution for improving student's kanji reading skills through an interactive, critical, and collaborative learning approach.
