Abstract

Additionally, this study seeks to examine how public speaking training and experience within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH) Ambassador Program at the University of Jakarta (UNJ) can enhance communication skills, self-confidence, and awareness as educators who will teach civic values. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation and in-depth interviews with students who are members of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH) Ambassador Program at the University of Jakarta (UNJ) for the 2020-2025 period. The research findings indicate that the experiences of students involved in the FISH UNJ Ambassador Organization play a significant role in developing public speaking skills related to civic skills. This is achieved through various events such as serving as emcees, moderators, and faculty representatives. Additionally, the implementation of the FISH UNJ Ambassador program has proven to be an effective training tool through public speaking, grooming, and protocol training. This training encourages students to become reflective, confident public communicators who are aware of their social responsibilities as future educators in both classroom settings and community life. The conclusion of this study is that students gain direct experience through various activities that sharpen their public speaking skills, as well as participating in training within the UNJ FISH Ambassador Program. This helps students in developing civic skills such as self-confidence, communication skills, leadership, and responsibility as future teachers.
