Abstract
Academic adjustment merupakan aspek krusial bagi mahasiswa baru dalam beradaptasi dengan lingkungan perkuliahan dan dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya adalah pola asuh orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh otoriter ibu terhadap academic adjustment pada mahasiswa baru di wilayah Jabodetabek. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner. Sampel berjumlah 247 mahasiswa yang dipilih dengan teknik convenience sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur pola asuh otoriter ibu adalah Parental Authority Questionnaire dari John R. Buri (1991), sedangkan untuk mengukur academic adjustment digunakan Academic Adjustment Scale dari Anderson dkk. (2016). Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai F(1, 250) = 62,08 dengan signifikansi p = 0,000 < 0,05. Ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan antara pola asuh otoriter ibu terhadap academic adjustment mahasiswa baru. Arah hubungan yang ditemukan bersifat negatif, yang berarti semakin tinggi tingkat pola asuh otoriter ibu, maka semakin rendah kemampuan academic adjustment mahasiswa baru di Jabodetabek. ***** Academic adjustment is a crucial aspect for first-year university students in adapting to the academic environment, and it can be influenced by various factors, including parenting styles. This study aims to examine the effect of maternal authoritarian parenting on academic adjustment among first-year students in the Jabodetabek area. A quantitative approach was used with data collected through questionnaires. The sample consisted of 247 students, selected using convenience sampling. The instrument used to measure maternal authoritarian parenting was the Parental Authority Questionnaire by John R. Buri (1991), while academic adjustment was assessed using the Academic Adjustment Scale by Anderson et al. (2016). Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results showed an F value of (1, 250) = 62.08 with a significance level of p = 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates a significant influence of maternal authoritarian parenting on students’ academic adjustment. The relationship was found to be negative, suggesting that the higher the level of authoritarian parenting by the mother, the lower the academic adjustment of first-year students in the Jabodetabek region.
