Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi modelling the way terhadap kemampuan berpidato siswa kelas X SMKN 18 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen quasi experimental design dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMKN 18 Jakarta. Dalam desain ini terdapat dua kelas yang dijadikan sampel, yaitu kelas X AKL 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas X BR 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mendata jumlah populasi, menentukan kelas eksperimen, menyusun instrumen dan rubrik penilaian kemampuan berpidato, melakukan validasi instrumen, melakukan pretest pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen, memberi perlakuan dengan strategi modelling the way pada kelas eksperimen, kemudian melakukan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil penghitungan uji normalitas Kolmogorov Smirnov, diperoleh nilai signifikansi (Sig) dari hasil pretest sebesar 0,200 dan posttest sebesar 0,200. Karena nilai signifikansi >0,05 maka H0 diterima dan Ha ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil uji homogenitas Lavene Based on Mean menunjukkan nilai Sig 0,215 yang berarti nilai lebih besar dari 0,05. Hasil penghitungan uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa mean -20.800, Std Deviation 3.595, t hitung -31.690, dan signifikansi (Sig) <0,001, dengan rata-rata peningkatan nilai mencapai 20,8 poin dibanding kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian terdapat pengaruh signifikan pada penggunaan strategi modelling the way terhadap kemampuan berpidato siswa kelas X SMKN 18 Jakarta. Kata Kunci : strategi pembelajaran, modelling the way, berbicara, berpidato /This study aims to determine the effect of the Modelling the Way strategy on the speech performance of tenth-grade students at SMKN 18 Jakarta. The research employed a quasi experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The data were collected from two classes of tenth-grade students: class X AKL 1 as the experimental group and class X BR 1 as the control group. The data collection procedure involved several steps: identifying the total student population, selecting experimental and control classes, developing assessment instruments and rubrics for speech skills, validating the instruments, conducting the pretest in both groups, implementing the Modelling the Way strategy in the experimental group, and finally administering the posttest. Based on the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, the significance value (Sig.) for both the pretest and posttest was 0.200, indicating that the data were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05). The Levene’s test for homogeneity of variances also showed a significance value of 0.215, meaning the data met the assumption of homogeneity. The hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test revealed a mean difference of -20.800, with a standard deviation of 3.595 and a t-value of -31.690. The result was statistically significant at the level of p < 0.001. The average score improvement in the experimental class reached 20.8 points higher than that of the control class. In conclusion, the use of the Modelling the Way strategy had a significant positive effect on enhancing students’ speech performance in class X of SMKN 18 Jakarta.
