Abstract
Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa siswa tunarungu melalui pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pembelajaran di kelas vokasional budidaya ikan guppy di SLB BC Abdi Pratama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan model yang digunakan oleh Kemmis dan McTaggart yang mencangkup 3 tahapan siklus yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan dan pengamatan, serta refleksi. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 5 siswa tunarungu kelas 12. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas vokasional budidaya ikan guppy. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, catatan lapangan, dokumentasi, tes tulis, dan tes kinerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa setelah diberikan tindakan hingga siklus II, siswa tunarungu di kelas vokasional budidaya ikan guppy mengalami peningkatan pada keterampilan berbicaranya, terutama dalam 3 kemampuan yaitu peningkatan nilai dari rata-rata nilai 57,5 menjadi 86,2 pada kemampuan perolehan kosakata dalam bidang budidaya ikan guppy, peningkatan dari rata-rata nilai 43,7 menjadi 83,7 pada kemampuan menyusun kalimat dengan pola SPOK, dan peningkatan dari 40 menjadi 87 skor pada kemampuan menyampaikan informasi dengan ujaran lisan, bahasa isyarat, dan komunikasi total. Secara kualitatif, peningkatan ini terlihat dari perubahan penggunaan kosakata, penggunaan bahasa yang terstruktur, dan menyampaikan informasi dengan lancar. Peningkatan ini didapatkan dengan cara memberi kesempatan siswa mendapatkan kosakata dengan pengalaman secara langsung, berbahasa yang berpola dan konsisten, serta memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk mengeksplorasi kemampuan berbicaranya melalui praktik menyampaikan informasi menggunakan ujaran lisan, bahasa isyarat, dan komunikasi total. Dengan peningkatan ini, metode pembelajaran kontekstual terbukti dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa siswa tunarungu di kelas vokasional budidaya ikan guppy. ***** This classroom action research aims to improve the language skills of deaf students through the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in a vocational guppy fish farming class at SLB BC Abdi Pratama. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, following the model proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart, which includes three cyclical stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were five deaf students in class 12. The research was conducted in the vocational guppy fish farming class. The study was carried out over two cycles and utilised various data collection techniques, including observation, field notes, documentation, written tests, and performance-based assessments. The findings indicated that, after the interventions up to the second cycle, the deaf students in the vocational class demonstrated significant improvements in their speaking skills. This was particularly evident in three key areas: Vocabulary acquisition in the context of guppy fish farming improved from an average score of 57,5 to 86,2, Sentence construction using the SPOA structure improved from an average score of 43,7 to 83,7, Information delivery using spoken language, sign language, and total communication improved from a score of 40 to 87. Qualitatively, these improvements were reflected in the students’ increased use of relevant vocabulary, structured language, and fluency in conveying information. These outcomes were achieved by providing opportunities for students to acquire vocabulary through direct experience, encouraging consistent and patterned language use, and facilitating exploration of their communication abilities through practical activities involving spoken language, sign language, and total communication. Based on these findings, the contextual teaching approach has been proven effective in enhancing the language skills of deaf students in the vocational guppy fish farming class.
