Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap sistem matrilineal Minangkabau dalam novel Segala Yang Diisap Langit karya Pinto Anugrah. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah antropologi sastra dan teori strukturalisme Robert Stanton. Strukturalisme Stanton dimanfaatkan untuk menganalisis struktur novel dan keterkaitan antar fakta cerita (alur, karakter, dan tokoh), sedangkan pendekatan antropologi sastra digunakan untuk menelusuri sistem matrilineal Minangkabau dengan teks sastra. Ciri sistem matrilineal Minangkabau menggunakan teori Gazalba, Radjab, dan Raudha Thaib. Ketiga ahli ini menjabarkan ada enam ciri sistem matrilineal Minangkabau, yaitu keturunan berdasarkan garis ibu, suku dan sistem waris, peran perempuan Minangkabau, harta pusaka, peran laki-laki di Minangkabau, dan perkawinan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi terhadap teks novel untuk mengidentifikasi data yang berkaitan dengan sistem kekerabatan, peran perempuan, dan struktur sosial dalam masyarakat Minangkabau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel Segala yang Diisap Langit memaparkan sistem matrilineal Minangkabau melalui berbagai aspek sosial budaya, seperti keturunan, hak waris, peran perempuan, serta struktur keluarga yang mengikuti garis ibu. Struktur naratif novel juga memperlihatkan bagaimana sistem matrilineal tersebut digambarkan dalam kehidupan tokoh dan alur cerita sesuai dengan teori strukturalisme Stanton. *****This research explores the Minangkabau matrilineal system as depicted in the novel Segala Yang Diisap Langit by Pinto Anugrah. The study adopts a literary anthropological approach combined with Robert Stanton’s structuralist theory. Stanton’s structuralism is applied to analyze the narrative structure and the interrelation of story elements (plot, character, and characterization), while the literary anthropological perspective is used to examine how the Minangkabau matrilineal system is represented in the text. The analysis of matrilineal characteristics refers to theories by Gazalba, Radjab, and Raudha Thaib, who identify six core aspects: matrilineal descent, clan and inheritance systems, the role of women, ancestral property, the role of men, and marriage. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis to identify data related to kinship, gender roles, and social structures in Minangkabau society. The findings reveal that the novel portrays the Minangkabau matrilineal system through various socio-cultural elements, particularly in terms of lineage, inheritance rights, women’s roles, and maternal family structures. The novel’s narrative structure also reflects how the matrilineal system is integrated into the characters' lives and the storyline, in alignment with Stanton’s structuralist framework.***
