Abstract

Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan memiliki keragaman suku, budaya, dan tradisi yang menjadi kekayaan sekaligus identitas bangsa. Namun, di tingkat Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD), pengenalan literasi budaya Indonesia masih terbatas, baik dari segi materi maupun media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan Model Permainan Kotak Nusantara berbasis pendekatan Montessori untuk mengenalkan literasi budaya Indonesia pada anak usia 5–6 tahun. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) model Borg & Gall, dengan teknik pengumpulan data kualitatif melalui analisis Miles & Huberman dan data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan SPSS. Model permainan dirancang dengan prinsip pembelajaran konkret, multisensori, dan sesuai tahap perkembangan anak, memadukan teori Montessori, serta unsur antropologi budaya. Kotak Nusantara memperkenalkan pulau-pulau besar di Indonesia serta kekhasan budayanya, meliputi suku, bahasa sapaan, rumah adat, baju adat, dan lagu daerah. Hasil uji kelayakan oleh pakar menunjukkan skor sangat tinggi pada aspek tampilan (97%), isi materi (87,5%), dan media (90%). Uji efektivitas menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan kemampuan literasi budaya anak (p = 0,000), mencakup aspek bahasa, pengetahuan, dan kesenian. Anak terlibat aktif, menunjukkan rasa ingin tahu, dan berinteraksi positif selama pembelajaran. Sebagian besar anak berada pada kategori pemahaman sedang hingga tinggi. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa Kotak Nusantara layak dan efektif digunakan sebagai media edukatif yang tidak hanya mengenalkan budaya secara interaktif, tetapi juga menanamkan nilai kebersamaan, empati, dan cinta tanah air sejak dini./ ***** Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, possesses a diversity of ethnicities, cultures, and traditions that serve as both a wealth and an identity of the nation. However, at the Early Childhood Education (ECE) level, the introduction of Indonesian cultural literacy remains limited, both in terms of content and learning media. This study aims to develop the Kotak Nusantara (Archipelago Box) game model based on the Montessori approach to introduce Indonesian cultural literacy to children aged 5–6 years. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg & Gall model, with qualitative data collection techniques analyzed through Miles & Huberman’s framework and quantitative data analyzed using SPSS. The game model was designed with the principles of concrete learning, multisensory experiences, and alignment with children’s developmental stages, integrating Montessori theory with elements of cultural anthropology. Kotak Nusantara introduces the major islands of Indonesia along with their cultural uniqueness, including ethnic groups, greeting phrases, traditional houses, traditional clothing, and folk songs. Expert feasibility testing results showed very high scores in appearance (97%), content (87.5%), and media (90%). Effectiveness testing demonstrated a significant improvement in children’s cultural literacy skills (p = 0.000), covering aspects of language, knowledge, and arts. Children actively engaged in the activities, showing curiosity and positive interaction throughout the learning process. Most children were in the moderate to high understanding categories. These findings prove that Kotak Nusantara is feasible and effective as an educational medium that not only introduces culture interactively but also instills values of togetherness, empathy, and love for the homeland from an early age.
