Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi permasalahan kemampuan memahami kesetaraan nilai pecahan mata uang peserta didik yang masih rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memahami kesetaraan nilai pecahan mata uang bagi peserta didik hambatan intelektual kategori ringan SMALB kelas XI di SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta melalui pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual atau contextual teaching and learning(ctl) dengan metode demonstrasi, tanya jawab dan penugasan disertai dengan dukungan media konkret mata uang asli. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 4 peserta didik. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, observasi dan dokumentasi foto. Sebelum pelaksanaan tindakan, seluruh peserta didik hambatan intelektual memperoleh hasil dibawah rata-rata skor yang ditargetkan. Artinya dari 20 butir penilaian memahami kesetaraan nilai pecahan mata uang dihasilkan 14 butir masih memerlukan bantuan dan bimbingan secara penuh dalam menyebutkan, menunjukan, menghitung dan menggabungkan pecahan mata uang yang dimilikinya untuk ditukarkan, 4 butir masih membutuhkan bantuan secara verbal dan non-verbal dan 2 lainnya mampu tanpa bantuan penuh. Pada Siklus I, terdapat dua peserta didik telah memperoleh hasil rata-rata skor yang diharapkan dan dua peserta lainnya belum mencapai hasil yang diharapkan. Pada Siklus II, hasil kemampuan pemahaman seluruh peserta didik telah meningkat. Terbukti dari 20 butir penilaian dihasilkan 11 butir masih memerlukan bantuan secara verbal pada indikator mengaplikasikan pecahan mata uang koin dan kertas dan lainnya sudah mampu secara mandiri tanpa bantuan. Selain itu, peningkatan juga terlihat dari perubahan sikap peserta didik yang menjadi lebih percaya diri serta menjadi lebih mandiri dalam menukar pecahan mata uang yang dimilikinya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman kesetaraan nilai pecahan mata uang bagi peserta didik hambatan intelektual kategori ringan. ***** This study was motivated by the low level of students' ability to understand the equivalence of currency fractions. The objective of this study is to enhance students' ability to understand the equivalence of currency denominations for intellectually disabled students in the mild category of SMALB grade XI at SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta through a contextual teaching and learning (CTL) approach, utilizing demonstration, question-and-answer sessions, and assignments, accompanied by concrete media using real currency. The study involved 4 students. The research method used was classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and photo documentation. Before the intervention, all students with intellectual disabilities scored below the targeted average. This means that out of 20 assessment items on understanding the equivalence of currency fractions, 14 items still required full assistance and guidance in identifying, showing, calculating, and combining the currency fractions they possessed for exchange, 4 items still needed verbal and non-verbal assistance, and 2 others were able to do so without full assistance. In Cycle I, two students achieved the expected average score, while the other two did not reach the expected results. In Cycle II, the comprehension skills of all students improved. This was evident from the 20 assessment items, with 11 items still requiring verbal assistance in applying coin and paper currency fractions, while the others were able to do so independently without assistance. Additionally, improvements were also observed in the students' attitudes, as they became more confident and independent in exchanging the currency denominations they possessed. The results of this study indicate that a contextual learning approach can enhance understanding of the equivalence of currency denominations among students with mild intellectual disabilities.
