Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan metode fonik dalam perkembangan membaca permulaan anak usia dini melalui tinjauan literatur. Metode fonik merupakan pendekatan sistematis yang menekankan pengenalan bunyi huruf (fonem) sebagai dasar untuk membaca kata dan kalimat. Studi ini mengkaji urgensi, bentuk penerapan, serta kelebihan dan kelemahan metode fonik berdasarkan 15 artikel jurnal nasional dan internasional yang dipublikasikan dalam rentang tahun 2015–2025. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa metode fonik efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan anak usia dini, terutama dalam pengenalan bunyi huruf dan penyusunan suku kata. Keberhasilan metode ini dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan media kreatif seperti flash card, puzzle, dan lagu, serta pendekatan bermain yang menyenangkan. Namun, metode fonik juga memiliki kelemahan, seperti potensi kebosanan anak akibat pengulangan dan kebutuhan akan pelatihan guru yang memadai. Implikasi penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya integrasi metode fonik dalam kurikulum PAUD dengan mempertimbangkan karakteristik perkembangan anak. ***** This study aims to analyze the implementation of the phonics method in early reading development for young children through a literature review. The phonics method is a systematic approach that emphasizes letter-sound recognition (phonemes) as the foundation for reading words and sentences. This study examines the urgency, implementation forms, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the phonics method based on 15 national and international journal articles published between 2015–2025. The analysis results demonstrate that the phonics method is effective in enhancing early reading skills in young children, particularly in letter-sound recognition and syllable formation. The success of this method is influenced by the use of creative media such as flashcards, puzzles, and songs, as well as enjoyable play-based approaches. However, the phonics method also has limitations, such as the potential for children's boredom due to repetition and the need for adequate teacher training. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of integrating the phonics method into early childhood education curricula while considering children's developmental characteristics.
