Abstract

Penilaian estetika produk dilakukan oleh lima panelis ahli menggunakan instrumen kuisioner berbasis teori estetika A.A.M. ***** This research aims to create an upcycled vest product by applying the stuffing technique using tulle fabric scraps as filling material and integrating Minangkabau Rumah Gadang carvings as visual inspiration. The design approach refers to the 2025/2026 Fashion Trend Forecasting with the Neo Nostalgic theme and Artisanal Elegance subtheme. The research method employed is experimental with a pre-experimental one-shot case study design. The resulting products consist of five vest designs made from tulle fabric decorated with Rumah Gadang carving motifs developed through stuffing technique using red, yellow, and green tulle fabric scraps as filling, representing the characteristic colors of Minangkabau. The aesthetic evaluation was conducted by five expert panelists using a questionnaire instrument based on A.A.M. Djelantik's aesthetic theory, encompassing aspects of appearance, content, and presentation. The research results indicate that the upcycled vest products obtained an overall score of 89% with an excellent category. The presentation aspect achieved the highest score (93.8%), followed by appearance (87.8%), and content (86%). This research proves that the stuffing technique utilizing textile waste can be a sustainable design solution capable of producing fashion products with high aesthetic value while preserving Minangkabau cultural heritage through reinterpretation of traditional motifs in contemporary fashion context.
