Abstract

Kemampuan menulis permulaan merupakan keterampilan dasar yang penting bagi peserta didik sekolah dasar, namun peserta didik dengan kesulitan belajar sering mengalami hambatan dalam membentuk huruf secara tepat dan konsisten, termasuk kecenderungan menulis huruf terbalik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode permainan papan pasir dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan pada peserta didik kesulitan belajar di SDS Pantara Jakarta Timur. Penelitian menggunakan metode Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A–B–A yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus hingga Desember 2025. Subjek penelitian adalah satu orang peserta didik kelas II berusia 9 tahun yang mengalami kesulitan menulis permulaan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan observasi pada tahap baseline awal (A1), tahap intervensi (B), dan tahap baseline kedua (A2). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dalam bentuk persentase serta analisis visual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis permulaan peserta didik pada aspek penulisan huruf d, s, dan j mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dan stabil setelah penerapan metode permainan papan pasir. Peserta didik mampu menuliskan bentuk huruf secara lebih tepat, mandiri, dan konsisten. Dengan demikian, metode permainan papan pasir efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan pada peserta didik kesulitan belajar. ***** The ability to write initial letters is a fundamental skill essential for elementary school students; however, students with learning difficulties often face obstacles in forming letters accurately and consistently, including a tendency to write letters backwards. This study aims to describe the implementation of the sand tray board game method in improving the initial letter writing ability of students with learning difficulties at SDS Pantara East Jakarta. The research employed a Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A–B–A design, conducted from August to December 2025. The research subject was one second-grade student aged 9 years who experienced difficulties in writing initial letters. Data collection was carried out through tests and observations during the initial baseline phase (A1), intervention phase (B), and second baseline phase (A2). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages as well as visual analysis. The research results indicate that the student's initial letter writing ability in the aspects of writing the letters d, s, and j experienced significant and stable improvement after the implementation of the sand tray board game method. The student was able to write letter forms more accurately, independently, and consistently. Thus, the sand tray board game method is effective for improving the initial letter writing ability of students with learning difficulties
