Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan dalam membaca kata dengan menerapkan metode fonik yang terdiri dari tahapan menyuarakan bunyi, mengenal bunyi awal dan akhir dari kata, menghitung bunyi kata, merangkai kata, dan membaca kata. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SLBN 5 Jakarta dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan kelas IX jenjang SMPLB. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Prosedur pengumpulan data menggunakan tes lisan membaca kata, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan model Miles dan Huberman, serta didukung oleh analisis data kuantitatif yaitu dengan perhitungan nilai rata-rata kemampuan membaca kata peserta didik melalui tes lisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca kata dari siklus pertama hingga siklus kedua serta menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri peserta didik dalam membaca kata secara mandiri. Hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh guru dan peneliti ditemukan peserta didik menunjukkan respon positif dalam kegiatan membaca yaitu lebih aktif, fokus, dan antusias. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode fonik efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kata pada peserta didik dengan hambatan intelektual ringan. ***** This study aims to improve the ability of students with mild intellectual disabilities in reading words by applying the phonics method which consists of the stages of sounding sounds, recognizing the initial and final sounds of words, counting word sounds, arranging words, and reading words. This study was conducted at SLBN 5 Jakarta with the research subjects being students with mild intellectual disabilities in grade IX of the SMPLB level. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which was implemented in two cycles with four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection procedure used oral word reading tests, observation, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively with the Miles and Huberman model, and supported by quantitative data analysis, namely by calculating the average value of students' word reading abilities through oral tests. The results of the study showed an increase in word reading abilities from the first cycle to the second cycle and showed an increase in students' self-confidence in reading words independently. The results of observations made by teachers and researchers found that students showed a positive response in reading activities, namely being more active, focused, and enthusiastic. Based on these results, it shows that the use of the phonics method is effective in improving word reading skills in students with mild intellectual disabilities.
