Abstract
***** This study aims to examine teachers’ attitudes toward children with special needs in public junior high schools in Tangerang City that implement inclusive education. The sample consisted of 241 teachers selected using snowball sampling. A quantitative survey design was employed, and data was collected using an attitude scale encompassing cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that, based on the ideal score, teachers’ attitudes in the cognitive aspect were categorized as Good (77%), while the affective aspect was classified as Very Good (88%), and the conative aspect was also in the Very Good category (84%). Overall, teachers’ attitudes toward children with special needs reached an ideal score of 84%, indicating a Very Good category. However, non-ideal attitudes were identified, particularly due to teachers’ limited knowledge regarding the characteristics of children with visual impairments, intellectual disabilities, and giftedness. These findings suggest that teachers’ attitudes reflect an integration of knowledge, emotions, and behavioral tendencies toward children with special needs. The results indicate that teachers’ overall attitudes and their conative attitudes obtained the same score, namely 84%.
