Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis inferioritas yang dialami tokoh utama dalam novel Bu, Tidak Ada Teman Menangis Malam Ini karya Boy Candra. Analisis dilakukan melalui dua tahap: pertama, membedah struktur naratif menggunakan fakta cerita perspektif Robert Stanton, dan kedua, menganalisis dinamika psikologis tokoh melalui teori Psikologi Individual Alfred Adler dengan dukungan perspektif trauma Cathy Caruth. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif-analitis dengan fokus penelitian pada keterkaitan karakter, alur, dan latar dalam membangun atmosfer inferioritas. Perspektif Cathy Caruth ditempatkan sebagai pendukung untuk membedah akar trauma masa lalu yang memicu kondisi psikis tokoh. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa inferioritas tokoh utama bermanifestasi dalam sembilan bentuk perilaku, mulai dari sifat takut-takut hingga masokisme. Kondisi tersebut merupakan dampak dari trauma kehilangan yang dialami secara literal, dan terus membayangi batin secara referensial melalui mekanisme latensi (latency) dan dampak tertunda (belatedness). Analisis ini mengindikasikan bahwa kondisi inferioritas tersebut menjadi pendorong tokoh untuk melakukan kompensasi melalui pengembangan tujuan fiksional dan minat sosial sebagai bentuk dari perjuangan menuju superioritas. Kata Kunci: Psikologi Individual, Dinamika Inferioritas, Superioritas, Trauma, Tokoh Utama ***** This study aims to analyze the inferiority experienced by the main character in Boy Candra's novel, "Bu, Tidak Ada Teman Menangis Malam Ini." The analysis was conducted in two stages: first, analyzing the narrative structure using the story's facts from Robert Stanton's perspective, and second, analyzing the character's psychological dynamics through Alfred Adler's Individual Psychology theory, supported by Cathy Caruth's trauma perspective. The method used is descriptive-analytical, with a focus on the relationship between character, plot, and setting in creating an atmosphere of inferiority. Cathy Caruth's perspective serves as a supporter to dissect the roots of past trauma that trigger the character's psychological condition. The findings indicate that the main character's inferiority manifests in nine forms of behavior, ranging from timidity to masochism. This condition is the result of the trauma of loss experienced literally, and continues to haunt the psyche referentially through the mechanisms of latency and belatedness. This analysis indicates that this inferiority condition drives the character to compensate by developing fictional goals and social interests as a form of striving for superiority.
