Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk dan struktur musik pada Rapsodia Nusantara No.12A karya Ananda Sukarlan sebagai salah satu karya piano kontemporer Indonesia yang merepresentasikan pengolahan materi musik tradisional Nusantara ke dalam idiom musik klasik modern. Karya ini menggunakan lagu daerah Sipatokaan dari Sulawesi Utara sebagai sumber melodi utama yang kemudian dikembangkan melalui berbagai teknik komposisi seperti variasi bebas, pengembangan motif, modulasi, serta pengolahan harmoni dan tekstur piano yang kompleks. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan metode analisis partitur sebagai sumber data utama, yang didukung oleh studi pustaka, analisis rekaman pertunjukan, dan wawancara dengan komponis. Analisis dilakukan secara sistematis terhadap aspek bentuk formal dan struktur musik yang meliputi melodi, harmoni, ritme, dan tekstur, serta dikaitkan dengan penelitian performatif untuk memahami realisasi musikal dalam praktik pertunjukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Rapsodia Nusantara No.12A memiliki kecenderungan bentuk tema dan variasi bebas dengan karakter bebas dan fantasi, yang terdiri atas bagian introduksi, tema utama, dan delapan variasi yang masing-masing memiliki karakter musikal berbeda. Ananda Sukarlan memadukan unsur modalitas tradisional dengan teknik harmoni modern seperti penggunaan chord extensions, symmetrical scale, disonansi, serta tekstur polifonik dan perkusif khas piano kontemporer. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa karya tersebut tidak sekadar merupakan aransemen lagu daerah, melainkan sebuah komposisi yang merepresentasikan antara identitas musikal Nusantara dan estetika musik kontemporer. This study aims to analyze the musical form and structure of Rapsodia Nusantara No.12A by Ananda Sukarlan as one of Indonesia’s contemporary piano works that represents the transformation of traditional Nusantara musical materials into a modern classical idiom. The composition employs the traditional folk song Sipatokaan from North Sulawesi as its primary melodic source, which is further developed through various compositional techniques such as free variation, motivic development, modulation, as well as complex harmonic and pianistic textural treatments. This research adopts a qualitative method, with score analysis as the primary data source, supported by literature review, performance recording analysis, and interviews with the composer. The analysis is conducted systematically on aspects of formal structure and musical elements, including melody, harmony, rhythm, and texture, and is further connected to performative research to understand musical realization in performance practice. The findings indicate that Rapsodia Nusantara No.12A tends toward a free theme and variations form with a fantasy-like and free character, consisting of an introduction, a principal theme, and eight variations, each exhibiting distinct musical characteristics. Ananda Sukarlan integrates traditional modal elements with modern harmonic techniques such as the use of chord extensions, symmetrical scales, dissonance, as well as polyphonic and percussive textures characteristic of contemporary piano writing. These findings demonstrate that the work is not merely an arrangement of a folk song, but rather a composition that represents a synthesis of Nusantara musical identity and contemporary musical aesthetics.
