Abstract
Penguatan yang diberikan oleh guru, baik secara verbal maupun nonverbal, memegang peranan penting dalam mengembangkan perilaku disiplin anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengilustrasikan atau menggambarkan implementasi pemberian penguatan (reinforcement) baik secara verbal maupun nonverbal yang diberikan oleh guru dalam mengembangkan perilaku disiplin anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif pada anak usia 5-6 tahun di kelompok B, khususnya di kelas B2 TK Islam Al Azhar 13 Rawamangun. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman, yaitu peneliti mereduksi data, menyajikan data, dan memverifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa guru menerapkan berbagai strategi penguatan, baik verbal maupun nonverbal, positif maupun negatif dalam mengembangkan perilaku disiplin anak usia 5–6 tahun. Penguatan verbal positif meliputi pemberian pujian, semangat atau motivasi, penjelasan positif, pengingat terhadap aturan, serta penanaman nilai-nilai positif, sedangkan penguatan verbal negatif meliputi menegur, memberi perintah, menakut-nakuti, mengambil hak istimewa, mengalihkan perhatian, serta menggoda atau mengejek. Penguatan nonverbal positif diberikan melalui teladan (modeling), hadiah, apresiasi simbolik, serta sentuhan, sedangkan penguatan nonverbal negatif meliputi mengekspresikan kemarahan dan mengekspresikan kesedihan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa guru di TK Islam Al Azhar 13 Rawamangun menerapkan berbagai strategi penguatan, baik verbal maupun nonverbal, positif maupun negatif, dalam mengembangkan perilaku disiplin anak usia 5–6 tahun. Oleh karena itu, guru diharapkan dapat mempertahankan dan meningkatkan konsistensi dalam menerapkan berbagai strategi penguatan tersebut agar perilaku disiplin dapat tertanam secara optimal dan berkembang secara berkelanjutan. ***** Reinforcement provided by teachers, both verbal and nonverbal, plays an important role in developing the disciplinary behavior in early childhood. This study aims to illustrate or describe the implementation of reinforcement both verbal and nonverbal, provided by teachers in developing children’s disciplinary behavior. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method on children aged 5-6 years in group B, specifically in class B2 of Al Azhar 13 Rawamangun Islamic Kindergarten. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, in which the researchers reduced the data, presented the data, and verified the data. The results showed that teachers applied various reinforcement strategies, both verbal and nonverbal, positive and negative, in developing the disciplinary behavior of 5-6 year old children. Positive verbal reinforcement included giving praise, encouragement or motivation, positive explanations, reminders of rules, and the instillation of positive values, whereas negative verbal reinforcement included reprimands, giving instructions, intimidation, taking away privileges, redirecting attention, and teasing or mocking. Positive nonverbal reinforcement was provided through modeling, rewards, symbolic appreciation, and affectionate touch, whereas negative nonverbal reinforcement involved expressing anger and sadness. This study concludes that teachers at Al Azhar 13 Rawamangun Islamic Kindergarten apply various reinforcement strategies, both verbal and nonverbal, positive or negative, in developing disciplinary behavior among children aged 5–6 years. Therefore, teachers are expected to maintain and enhance consistency in implementing these reinforcement strategies so that disciplinary behavior can be instilled optimally and continue to develop sustainably.
