Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi awal pada siswa kelas 2 melalui kegiatan membaca cerita di SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari siswa-siswi kelas 2 SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2025 – Oktober 2025. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa kemampuan literasi awal siswa-siswi kelas 2 SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi sebagian besar masih kesulitan dalam membaca. Kegiatan membaca cerita yang dilakukan di kelas, memperlihatkan sejauh mana kemampuan literasi awal siswa di kelas rendah. Berdasarkan aspek-aspek literasi awal, siswa-siswa masih belum sepenuhnya mampu menguasai huruf atau alfabet, sehingga mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam aspek lainnya seperti, pengucapan kata dan kelancaran membaca. Sebagian besar siswa juga belum menggunakan intonasi ketika membaca karena belum memahami fungsi tanda baca. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan mampu mengkaji kemampuan literasi awal siswa dari aspek yang lebih luas lagi. ***** This study aims to determine the early literacy skills of second-grade students through story reading activities at SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects consisted of second-grade students of SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi. This study was conducted from July 2025 to October 2025. In data collection, the researcher used primary and secondary data. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the early literacy skills of second-grade students at SDN Lubang Buaya 03 Pagi still largely struggle with reading. The story reading activities conducted in class demonstrate the extent of students' early literacy skills in lower grades. Based on early literacy aspects, students have not yet fully mastered letters or the alphabet, which impacts their abilities in other areas, such as pronunciation and reading fluency. Most students also do not use intonation when reading due to a lack of understanding of the function of punctuation. Future research is expected to examine students' early literacy skills from a broader perspective.
