Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk hedonisme yang diekspresikan dalam dialog film Climax (2018) karya Gaspar Noé. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori klasifikasi hedonisme menurut Weijers (2012) yang meliputi folk hedonism, motivational hedonism, value (prudential) hedonism, dan hedonistic egoism. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Data diperoleh melalui penontonan film secara berulang, transkripsi dialog, dan pengklasifikasian kutipan berdasarkan indikator masing-masing jenis hedonisme. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman sebagaimana dijelaskan oleh Sugiyono (2022), yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 36 data yang dianalisis, ditemukan 12 data folk hedonism, 10 data hedonistic egoism, serta masing-masing 7 data motivational hedonism dan value hedonism. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa dialog dalam film Climax merepresentasikan beragam bentuk hedonisme, mulai dari kesenangan fisik yang spontan hingga pencarian kepuasan egoistik, sehingga hedonisme tidak hanya ditampilkan sebagai tema, tetapi juga sebagai wacana sosial yang kompleks melalui bahasa. ***** This study aims to describe the forms of hedonism expressed in the dialogue of the film Climax (2018) directed by Gaspar Noé. The study employs Weijers’ (2012) classification of hedonism, which includes folk hedonism, motivational hedonism, value (prudential) hedonism, and hedonistic egoism. A qualitative approach with a content analysis method is applied. The data are obtained through repeated viewing of the film, dialogue transcription, and the classification of excerpts based on the indicators of each type of hedonism. Data analysis is conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman as explained by Sugiyono (2022), which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that out of 36 analyzed data, 12 instances of folk hedonism, 10 instances of hedonistic egoism, and 7 instances each of motivational hedonism and value hedonism are identified. These findings indicate that the dialogue in Climax represents various forms of hedonism, ranging from spontaneous physical pleasure to the pursuit of egoistic satisfaction, demonstrating that hedonism is presented not only as a theme but also as a complex social discourse articulated through language.
