Abstract

Perkembangan orkestra di Indonesia, khususnya yang bernaung di lingkungan institusi pendidikan, menuntut pengelolaan konser yang profesional dan terstruktur. Batavia Chamber Orchestra (BCO) sebagai chamber orchestra yang berada dalam irisan antara komunitas profesional dan program studi pendidikan musik menghadapi kompleksitas pengelolaan, terutama dalam pelaksanaan konser peringatan satu dekade bertajuk Dekade tahun 2024. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengelolaan pertunjukan konser Batavia Chamber Orchestra (BCO) bertajuk Dekade tahun 2024 serta mengidentifikasi tantangan dan kendala dalam pelaksanaannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka, dan dokumentasi, serta divalidasi melalui triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan konser Dekade secara umum telah menerapkan fungsi manajemen menurut George R. Terry, yaitu perencanaan, pengorganisasian, penggerakan, dan pengendalian. Fungsi perencanaan dan pengorganisasian dilaksanakan secara sistematis melalui penetapan konsep pertunjukan, struktur kepanitiaan, pembagian tugas, serta perencanaan teknis dan artistik. Fungsi penggerakan berjalan cukup efektif melalui peran kepemimpinan pembimbing dan ketua panitia. Namun, fungsi pengendalian belum optimal karena belum dilaksanakannya evaluasi pascapertunjukan secara formal dan terdokumentasi. Selain itu, ditemukan kendala berupa peran ganda anggota sebagai musisi dan panitia yang berdampak pada konflik waktu, kelelahan, serta kurang optimalnya koordinasi antar divisi. ***** The development of orchestras in Indonesia, particularly those operating within educational institutions, requires professional and well-structured concert management. Batavia Chamber Orchestra (BCO), as a chamber orchestra positioned at the intersection of a professional community and a music education study program, faces managerial complexity, especially in the implementation of its tenth-anniversary commemorative concert entitled Dekade in 2024. This research aims to describe the management of the Batavia Chamber Orchestra (BCO) concert performance titled Dekade 2024 and to identify the challenges and constraints encountered during its implementation. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, literature review, and documentation, and were validated using source triangulation. The results indicate that the management of the Dekade concert generally applied management functions according to George R. Terry, namely planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. The planning and organizing functions were carried out systematically through the determination of performance concepts, organizational committee structure, task distribution, and technical and artistic planning. The actuating function was implemented quite effectively through the leadership role of the supervisor and the committee chairperson. However, the controlling function was not optimal due to the absence of a formal and documented post-performance evaluation. In addition, several constraints were identified, including the dual roles of members as both musicians and committee members, which led to time conflicts, fatigue, and less-than-optimal coordination among divisions.
