Abstract

Penelitian ini terdiri dari empat tujuan, yaitu (1) mendeskripsikan struktur novel Bulan Patah yang terdiri dari tema, alur, latar, dan karakter, (2) mendeskripsikan konteks sosial budaya masyarakat Flores, (3) mendeskripsikan ideologi pengarang dalam novel, (4) mendeskripsikan belis dalam masyarakat Flores pada novel Bulan Patah menggunakan kajian semiotika yang terdiri dari ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori strukturalisme Robert Stanton, teori konteks sosial budaya Koentjaraningrat, teori ideologi pengarang Karl Marxis, dan kajian semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif-kualitatif. Sumber data terdiri dari novel Bulan Patah sebagai data primer dan buku maupun jurnal artikel sebagai data sekunder. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah membaca, mencatat, menyimpulkan, dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan tujuh aspek konteks sosial budaya berjumlah 21 data, tiga aspek pada ideologi pengarang berjumlah 9 data, tiga aspek semiotika berjumlah 25 data. Dari keseluruhan data, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai, norma, dan kebiasaan masyarakat membentuk cara mereka berinteraksi dan menjalani kehidupan, ideologi pengharang menunjukkan ideologi berimbang, dan belis yang dimunculkan tidak hanya sebagai adat tetapi juga sebaga tanda sosial budaya. ***** This study has four objectives: (1) to describe the structure of the novel Bulan Patah, which consists of theme, plot, setting, and characters; (2) to describe the socio-cultural context of Flores society; (3) to describe the author’s ideology in the novel; and (4) to describe belis in Flores society in the novel Bulan Patah using a semiotic approach consisting of icon, index, and symbol. The approach used in this research applies Robert Stanton’s structuralism theory, Koentjaraningrat’s socio-cultural context theory, Karl Marx’s theory of authorial ideology, and Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic study. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data sources consist of the novel Bulan Patah as the primary data and books and journal articles as secondary data. The techniques used to collect the data are reading, note-taking, drawing conclusions, and library research. The results of the study show seven aspects of the socio-cultural context with a total of 21 data, three aspects of the author’s ideology with a total of 9 data, and three aspects of semiotics with a total of 25 data. Overall, the findings indicate that the values, norms, and customs of society shape the way people interact and live their lives, the author’s ideology reflects a balanced ideology, and belis is presented not only as a tradition but also as a socio-cultural sign.
