Abstract

***** This study aims to examine the effect of parental support on academic stress, mediated by academic buoyancy, among senior undergraduate students. This study employs a quantitative method, and the sampling technique used is purposive sampling, a type of non-probability sampling. The sample size in this study consists of 250 final year undergraduate students studying in Indonesia who still have living parents. The academic stress instrument used in this study is the Perceived Academic Stress Scale (PASS). The parental support instrument used in this study is the Perceived Parental Support Scale. The academic buoyancy instrument used in this study is the Academic Buoyancy Scale. The results of the analysis using the PROCESS Macro Model 4 indicate that parental support has a positive and significant effect on academic buoyancy (beta = 0.5083, p = 0.0000), and academic buoyancy has a negative and significant effect on academic stress (beta = -0.6074, p = 0.0011). The direct effect of parental support on academic stress is not significant (beta = 0.4227, p = 0.0647), whereas the indirect effect is significant (beta = -0.3088; BootLLCI = -0.5689; BootULCI = -0.0863). From these results, it can be concluded that academic buoyancy fully mediates the effect of parental support on academic stress. Keywords: Academic stress, Parental support, Academic buoyancy, Senior undergraduate students.
