Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan motif Batik Tabuik Pariaman sebagai upaya pelestarian budaya masyarakat Pariaman, Sumatera Barat, sekaligus mengetahui nilai estetika produk batik tersebut. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh tradisi Tabuik yang menjadi identitas budaya khas Pariaman namun belum banyak diangkat menjadi motif batik, serta permasalahan penggunaan pewarna alam yang kurang diminati masyarakat karena hasil warnanya dianggap kurang optimal. Sumber ide motif diambil dari Rumah Gadang, Kaluak Paku, Tabuik, dan Sampan, yang diaplikasikan pada lima rancangan motif batik tulis dengan teknik pewarnaan alam mengacu pada palet warna Indonesian Trend Forecasting 2026/2027. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa kuisioner atau angket rating scale yang telah diuji validitas konstruknya, dan diisi oleh lima panelis ahli di bidang tata busana, desain produk, kriya tekstil, dan fashion design. Penilaian estetika mengacu pada teori Djelantik (1999) yang mencakup tiga aspek, yaitu wujud atau rupa (unsur dan prinsip desain), bobot atau isi (gagasan atau ide), serta penyajian atau penampilan (sarana atau media). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aspek wujud atau rupa memperoleh nilai 94,13%, aspek bobot atau isi 92,8%, dan aspek penyajian atau penampilan 90,8%, dengan nilai rata-rata keseluruhan sebesar 92,57%, yang seluruhnya berada pada kategori sangat baik. Motif Batik 3 memperoleh nilai estetika tertinggi, sedangkan Motif Batik 1 memperoleh nilai terendah namun tetap berkategori sangat baik. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa Batik Tabuik Pariaman layak dijadikan inovasi motif batik baru yang berkualitas secara estetika serta berpotensi menjadi sarana pelestarian dan pengenalan budaya Pariaman kepada masyarakat luas. Kata kunci: Estetika, batik tulis, Batik Tabuik Pariaman, pewarna alam ***** This study aims to develop new Batik Tabuik Pariaman motifs as an effort to preserve the culture of the Pariaman community in West Sumatra, while also determining the aesthetic value of the resulting batik products. The research is grounded in the fact that the Tabuik tradition, despite being a distinctive cultural identity of Pariaman, has rarely been translated into batik motifs, and that the use of natural dyes remains unpopular among the public because the resulting colors are considered less than optimal. The design ideas were drawn from Rumah Gadang, Kaluak Paku, Tabuik, and Sampan, which were applied to five batik tulis (hand-drawn batik) motif designs using natural dyeing techniques based on the color palette of the Indonesian Trend Forecasting 2026/2027. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method, with data collected through a rating scale questionnaire that had been tested for construct validity and completed by five expert panelists in the fields of fashion, product design, textile craft, and fashion design. The aesthetic assessment referred to Djelantik's (1999) theory, which covers three aspects, namely form or appearance (design elements and principles), substance or content (ideas or concepts), and presentation or display (means or media). The results showed that the form or appearance aspect obtained a score of 94.13%, the substance or content aspect 92.8%, and the presentation aspect 90.8%, with an overall average score of 92.57%, all of which fell into the very good category. Batik Motif 3 obtained the highest aesthetic score, while Batik Motif 1 obtained the lowest score, although it remained in the very good category. These findings prove that Batik Tabuik Pariaman is feasible as a new, aesthetically qualified batik motif innovation with strong potential as a means of preserving and introducing Pariaman's culture to the wider public.
