Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena popularitas Tari Goyang Ngamprok sebagai tarian kreasi yang berkembang di kalangan remaja Kota Depok. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan kerangka teori budaya populer Dominic Strinati, studi ini menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mendorong tingginya daya pikat tarian tersebut di kalangan generasi muda. Data dihimpun melalui triangulasi wawancara, observasi, dan kuesioner terhadap 40 responden remaja. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa 85% responden menilai karakter gerak yang lincah dan dinamis merepresentasikan jiwa muda mereka. Di samping itu, 77,5% remaja terpapar tarian ini melalui media digital. Temuan ini mempertegas pergeseran peran lembaga formal oleh platform digital dalam pewarisan budaya, di mana kelangsungan karya seni kini lebih ditentukan oleh preferensi umum dan keterbukaan ruang digital, di luar pengakuan resmi negara. Kata Kunci: Tari Goyang Ngamprok, Remaja, Budaya Populer, Ruang Digital, Kota Depok ***** This study examines the popularity of Tari Goyang Ngamprok as a created creative dance that has gained widespread recognition among preteenager Depok City. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach based on Dominic Strinati’s theory of popular culture, the study explores the factors that contribute to the dance’s strong appeal among the younger generation. Data were collected through the triangulation of interviews, observations, and questionnaires involving 40 preteenager respondents. The findings indicate that 85% of respondents perceived the dance’s lively and dynamic movements as a reflection of their youthful identity. In addition, 77.5% of the respondents were introduced to the dance through digital media platforms. These findings underscore the shifting role of formal institutions toward digital platforms in the transmission of culture, where the sustainability of artistic works is increasingly determined by public preferences and the straightforwardness of digital spaces rather than by official state recognition.
